the aluminium slats have the part numbers stamped on the back just off centre, the low number goes to the top. that is part number for e.g. ARH 2246 goes to top 2247 is second from top 2248 next & 2249 = bottom. hope that helped you cptkennykidna

if you had the inverter type filter arrangement as fitted to mk11 Australian models, you could use a z9 filter which now has an anti drain back valve. fords with z9's have the threaded rod as a standard part, although I do not no the part number. apparently you can spit it in half for two Austin 1800 conversions.

why do you waste your time on crap like that, interior is O.K. but those sills etc urgh, I know you guy's have harsh conditions that the cars have gone through , but think of what I have to go through. I have thrown away enough parts to drive the Queen Mary , and I liked her too. why don't you guy's ask me for a whole sill section, why don't you ask me for any thing

instead of 30 minutes, I am going to see if I can explain some clutch problems in 5. 1. clutch plate installed wrong way round, bold spring face has been installed facing flywheel. result of incorrect installation is springs binding on flywheel bolts, but clutch can still work, in the ignorance of the installer you could still be better off than problem 2. 2. there where so many different applications for the clutch plates and pressure plates on so many different cars that you could end up with parts that will cause your car to want to move in any gear with clutch depressed and this can even happen after a years use of your clutch fix up. what can cause it ?. the pressure plates can have different inner diameters e.g. 122mm -129.5mm - 130mm - 145mm, and more. I am not talking about the machined recess, but the most inner i.d. . now your clutch plate will also have as many variables with the raised spring face e.g. 116mm - 118mm - 120mm - 128mm and so on. there must be clearance between raised spring o.d. on clutch plate & smaller i.d. on pressure plate or you are going to f up, and even the best of us do that, best wishes.

I just spent 30 minutes typing my thoughts on clutch problems & pressed the green reply button, I think it is really a delete button, is that true?

I hope people are listening to you tommy, keep it standard but clean. a year or two out of service & you would be surprised at the build up of contaminants in your braking & clutch system, the seals are not expensive so don't risk it.

solution may be on the way, don't know how to post pictures but after 5 different experiments we think we have a roller thrust bearing that is up to the job, it is self centring and flat faced, it will fit old carrier if O.D. is enlarged down to same depth as carbon. there is one other mod but since your unit is out & the man on the lathe is being used, it's simple. the part No will not bring you happiness as I think it is from an industrial application, but I can get it. keep in touch.

the part that is shown for the distributor is a standard pigtail used on 25d4 distributor, mini- jaguar-etc etc etc. I rebuilt the transmission on a friends series 1 jag and surprised him many times with bits of 1800 parts, the timing chain tensioner is the same too. the jaguar auto box is very easy to recon, but is still an engine out job. in australia the 29d6 distributor uses the same distributor cap as its contemporary G.M.holden products, that's the Holden and it is made by Bosch,it is likely it will fit on U.K. e series sixes but don't quote me.

hi simmo, you just got me to go out into a cavernous workshop in the cold and dark just to see if I am sane. the truth is, it is winter here and I suggest you put on your glasses, it is 12861-61020 that's an 8 on the third number. I am not agro, just on my eleventh stubby. I am starting to get used to this site, but still cannot put the picture of the Kimberley camper on line. or any other, going for number 12. cptkennnykidna, burp!...

most jaguar owners need a backup car, I know 4 jaguar owners that have Austin 1800 utes, plus one Daimler owner. sounds like you need one too. I have one available plus the original pope mobile 1800 ute with pope canopy is available from sarah gautrey at enviro@iinet.net.au view on gumtree western Australia. a Canadian man came over here some years ago and I fitted him out with an 1800, he called it jasper, it,s a place in the west side of the universe he told me. I have to scrap some of my 1800s within the next three months so put in your requests for body panels. sometimes the panel can be cut in half to cheapen shipping. to the gentleman in the u.s. your moment has arrived. I have lots of petrol tanks that have been stored for twenty years plus everything else. rust free front fenders u.s. talk. front guards in Australia. make your move gentlemen. klyle6@bigpond.com.au

looks correct chris, as I said their is a little work to be done. it took me about 1 hour for the last replacement, a drill press is the best way to do the job but a hand drill will do. you might break your wrist though. one of the holes is in the right spot but gets enlarged, the other three holes are as per pattern" same size drill".the Toyota mounting, that is the genuine part is the best because the pressing is so accurate. plus you have that Toyota feeling & a warranty. I found the cheaper ones to require a bit more fiddling . I do have some pics on my camera but do not know how to post them, sounds like I need help from flicker. come on everyone get involved, I need to download before I cark it. and yes chis, it is two of those. cptkennykidna

this mounting can be replaced with Toyota fj 60 lancruiser engine mounting number 12861-61020 this mounting is about $102 for the genuine Toyota part, but it available from Germany, china, & Australia at various prices, e.g. from www.4x4world.com.au at about $16.00 each plus postage, cheap as chips. I have fitted these to four cars so far with no problems, but!. I must warn you that damage done by having broken sandwich mountings for any length of time can cause the two front mounts to move towards the radiator & take on a permanent status. this means that when you fit the replacements you will be trying to pull the engine back towards the battery end . you must make sure your front mountings are square to the body or your old front mounts will be pulling the new ones in a direction they do not want to go. just google mounting 12861-61020 to see part and price, I suggest 4x4 world as above or mackay silent rubber Bentley Victoria, your local motor factor, I. e. veale engine parts can do it all for you if you like. I have patterns for the positioning of this arrangement, but I do not want to have to send a pattern to each and every one of you. this is something that has to be thought about, perhaps one set of patterns in circuit, what are your thoughts. there is a small amount of trimming to do for one of the mounts. all the best. cptkennykidna

the coil looks fine to me ozoztin, thats where they go on aussie mk11s and utes, the bracket has been modified as per crossover from generator to alternator, the compliance date of this ute is january 1968 but the engine block was cast on 1-6-70 and i do not think that is a genuine gold seal engine. a princess gearbox a jaeger clock out of a renault 12 station wagon a distributor from an o series engine, get your act together mate, and i do not like sump gaurds!!!
