Hey All, I came here looking for information about the front crossmember and found it to be an enlightening sight. I own a 69 Austin 1800 MkII, which I believe is fairly rare in the USA. My car has a British Columbia sticker on the windscreen, so I believe it to be of Canadian orgin. The car has had a fairly rough past, at least in my terms, and I am mainly planning on keeping it intact. I really don't intend to restore it, just recondition it. I got in to this front end repair when I decided to repaint it and the damage is a lot more than I expected. If anyone know of some parts in the USA, the contact would greatly be appreciated. I guess you could call me an Anglophile becuase of my collection of cars. My newest vehicle is a 2009 LR3 or Discovery as you may know it, my wife drives a 2005 Jag S-type, we als have another Jag, a 73 E-type 2+2 V-12, I have 2 other Land Rovers, a 96 Disco and a 66 Series 2A military ambulance converted to a pick-up. I have 4 - TR6's, one of which is a racecar that I drive, I have 2 - MGB's, one we bought in 81, I also have another Austin, an Austin America that my daughter and I restored when she was in high school, and last but not least, a 74 triumph Trident MC. Welcome I am sure you will be able to get great info from the guys on the forum. It's great to see an 1800 in such good hands. I presume the 1800 was sold in reasonable numbers at the time in Canada? You are probably familiar with the MG Experience Forum as a number of guys in Canada have MG 1100's and I am sure I have seen some discussion on 1800's in Canada. Their is a strong following in Australia as they were locally assembled as they were in NZ in smaller numbers. The 1800 Mk 11 was assembled here from CKD packs between 68 and 71 and cost about $3162 NZ dollars in 1968.(Source NZ Identicar 06/1981) Love your line up of cars as I have always been keen on English roadsters and after owning Triumphs lusted after a TR6 (most of our have petrol injection over here) but ended up with an MGC that I have had since 1985 and very happy with! The Austin 3 Litre I have (damaged condition)was one sold new in NZ imported in numbers of between 150 and 200. All the best and hoping the repairs go well. Regards John.

Welcome!
I take it you know of Todd Miller's Austin America site and the BMC1100 Google Group?

most jaguar owners need a backup car, I know 4 jaguar owners that have Austin 1800 utes, plus one Daimler owner. sounds like you need one too. I have one available plus the original pope mobile 1800 ute with pope canopy is available from sarah gautrey at enviro@iinet.net.au view on gumtree western Australia. a Canadian man came over here some years ago and I fitted him out with an 1800, he called it jasper, it,s a place in the west side of the universe he told me. I have to scrap some of my 1800s within the next three months so put in your requests for body panels. sometimes the panel can be cut in half to cheapen shipping. to the gentleman in the u.s. your moment has arrived. I have lots of petrol tanks that have been stored for twenty years plus everything else. rust free front fenders u.s. talk. front guards in Australia. make your move gentlemen. klyle6@bigpond.com.au
