Would that be an electronical magic box disappearing up the back of the dashboard? Chris. No. It would be wiring through the bulkhead for some automotive wizardry

I heard you the first time! I dunno, riding around with Harry Potter in the car. Thought he was an Anglia man, anyway.
Chris.

You got us. Sorting 710 leak first. Would have got engine back in except someone did a clutch change in the past and used my gasket set. Ordering new today. I will start a new thread in the technical board for the FI but also give general updates here for completeness. A taster:- The kit, not as it arrived but unpacked.

I'm sure it's lovely, but you need to set your Flickr account to "Public" so that we can see. Chris.

The weekend saw Mr P and myself head over to Edam Camp in North Yorkshire for a show The car ran well really all the way there and won best landcrab of the day. It did well to do that as there were some stunning crabs there. Coming home it was running well until it got to Shaw. Mocking along the motorway "at the legal limit" 😀 when suddenly everything cut out. I managed to start it again where it ran for another ten miles before cutting out again. Cranking was slow so when I got going again all electrics were left off and the stop restart process happened several times more before getting home.
Investigation tonight confirmed the problem was due to lack of electricity as the bottom bolt of the alternator was missing causing the fan belt to be a little loose. For some reason there was no tell tale screeching to indicate that last night.

I must say thanks to Snoopy, as I lost the dynamo on the way up to Eden Camp and he shadowed me up and back and made sure I got the Red Dog back home again. So that was 110 miles out of 120 for my round trip. I was somewhat amazed that the car made it without cutting out. Despite the charging light glowing merrily, I suspect that there must have been some slight trickle of charge getting to the battery. Obviously just too much for GLE though.
Still, carry a jump pack and with a bit of patience - you can do it.
Cheers, Mark.
Chris.
