And duly were. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Welded, flatted and painted. Bolted through the spacers from inside the mudguard, so more or less invisible fixings. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Added the wiring for the speedo and associated lights and tell tales. What rats' nest? Hopefully get the rear lights sorted during the week. Wiring is in place. Waiting for an hydraulic switch for the rear caliper and that might be it. Chris.

Customers.... He's been indulging in unauthorised parts buying, to wit one 48mm bore straight-through exhaust. The pipes fitted to the bike are 35mm. Oh well, break out the welder and make a new flange to adapt it to fit. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Heavy duty plate. Studs welded through, chain drilling 48mm hole. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Join the holes. The adult version of "Join the Dots". Up there with my favourite things, like upside down welding. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Some time later. Worked out all right, although it needs a Mikalor clamp on there to fit it properly. Chris.

And - it's finished. Last bit was to weld on brackets at the rear for the indicators and get them mounted and hooked up. Secured the exhaust with a Mikalor clamp and that was it. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr The difference between what came into the workshop and what's going back out again is amazing. Not really my sort of thing to be honest, but I'm really quite chuffed with that. Chris.

I suspect he values his anatomy more than attempting to ride it and Mrs P catching him at it!

No, I haven't ridden it. That's Danny in the last picture. He's 6'4"! I can't reach the foot pegs or the handlebars really. Anyway, he's made up about it, so job done. Chris.

Arr. It's back again. He dropped it, ripped a peg off and destroyed an indicator. Sorted that, then: Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Sissy bar. Move tail light. Got to re-make some electrics to get power up there. Paint. Black, presumably. Got to do some minor engine work due to a couple of stripped threads. There's a pair of ape-hangers turned up as well. I suspect we're moving away from the "Bobber" ethic into the "Chopper" one. Chris.

Oddly enough, yes! It was just one of those stick-on wireless bell pushes with a battery in it. I found it later, smashed to pieces. Kids used to ring door bells and run away, I suspect we've all done it at some point. Door bell by Penguin 45, on Flickr Anyway, they've got their work cut out now. Chris,

What me - never! Now it would be tempting to build a device to remotely ring all the wireless door bells in the street if I was a naughty youngster nowadays. David

When you have nothing else to do perhaps you should make a job lot and flog them on EBay? Tony S

Brother CM600 by Penguin 45, on Flickr That is a Brother CM600 Scan'N'Cut. You can programme it and cut things out. MrsP collected it from one of her crafting chums as it "doesn't work any more". A few questions revealed that you couldn't programme it from the card and USB adaptor. Soldered in a new USB socket and away it went. What gets me is that it was £499 new and I've fixed it for £1.50. Anyway, MrsP is happy and I will find out whether or not it will make gaskets. Gearbox selector gasket anybody? Chris.

Gaskets R Us. Looks like it might be fun. Better than tapping out gaskets with hammer and ball bearing. Used to make my own copper head gaskets for BSA C10L as a lad. No money but loads of fun.
