Dodgy isn't the word for it! It's actually got a current MoT certificate. God alone knows why. As far as I can tell, it started life as one of these modern AJS 125cc off road bikes. It's been converted to a hard tail and had a 250cc engine from a quad fitted. I've got to sort out things as mentioned before and generally tidy up the mess. I think it's purpose is to cruise gently on Sunday afternoons. Not my problem. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Anyway, couple of brackets made today. The big one is the bottom support for the oil cooler, small one is the mount for the rear brake caliper resevoir. Get them fitted tomorrow, then I can start lopping off the extraneous brackets and tidy up (and probably re-do) a lot of welding. Chris.

Made the other oil cooler bracket. Chopped off a bunch of redundant brackets and smoothed off the remains. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Fitted. That shoudn't go anywhere. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Rear brake sorted. Reservoir mounted, flexi re-routed and secured, bled off and functional. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Speedometer mounted properly. Cable ties are not a secure mounting. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr And then there's this. Appalling incomplete welding. Spanner used as gussett. That's all coming out and being done again. As usual, things are escalating. Chris.

Amazing what people will put their faith in. When I stripped the Matchless found a welded swing arm pivot. Took ages to find another swing arm as special to 54 model! Got one from Switzerland would you believe. you have some serious welding to do. We await a photo of you mounted on the finished article.

Welding finished. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Top tube sorted. Spanner chopped off, weld re-done, 4mm gusset added. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr And a little later. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Rear tube replaced and fully welded. That's not going anywhere. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Tank brackets moved back 1½". It clears the forks on full lock now. So, fabrication finished. Need Danny to sort out some switch gear, then I can get on with re-wiring it. Chris.

It's still here. Now moving forwards again. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Rear brake rod re-made. This was a length of 5/16" threaded rod. Bent and boinged when the lever was pressed. Replaced with a very solid length of thick wall tubing that doesn't bend at all. Bobberr by Penguin 45, on Flickr Same with the gear selector rod. Sorry about the pic. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Handlebar switch gear has turned up. No pin-out = insanity looming...... Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Rather dinky little indicators. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Control centre taking shape. Basically, I've started again from scratch with the wiring. Chris.

Yeah, I'll cook something up for him. It's spread across three sheets of A4 at the moment - most of which is crossings out! It's quite logical really. Anyway, can't finish the back-end of the bike, so getting into details at the front now. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr What wiring? Pair of side covers made. Flanged in top and bottom to make a box. Front left open so as the wiring can escape. Quite pleased with those. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Almost finished in here. Chris.

That sounds far more intelligible than the average car wiring diagram! David Yeah, I'll cook something up for him. It's spread across three sheets of A4 at the moment - most of which is crossings out! It's quite logical really. Chris.

And it's not leaking anymore. Yay! Customer finally brought up some ½" round bar, so I can make the stays for the mudguard. Once that's done, I can complete the wiring to the rear of the bike and it can go home. Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr Bobber by Penguin 45, on Flickr They'll get welded to the rear tube, then painted. Chris.
