Almost right - boot floor ok - lots of bodgery around fuel tank hanger particularly on LHS, front valance made of pudding - might replace with f/glass. Just going to remove the layers of underseal on the big bit of metal that supports the engine - also thinking of converting front wing to bolt on for easier access in the future...piccies tonight! Am off to quack to see about extremely painful constant headache which started about 5 weeks ago (it's only just dawned on me that timeframe coincides with when I bought the car!). Did I tell you about the mice nest....

How a week changes things! The initial enthusiasm has waned a bit as the grinder continues to unearth years of accumulated bodgery - will post some pictures tomorrow under the "rebuild" section! Cheers Andrew

First post for me ever - but having taken advantage of all the great advice on various car forums as a guest, thought it time to take the plunge. I'm the latest owner of SUO 943H - there's some nice pictures of the car at Milton Keynes in another thread on here. I learnt to drive on an 1800 in the early '80's and have had two 3 litres along the way, interspersed by everything from an Edwardian chain driven race car, Mini Van with MG metro engine, 2 alfa's - both highly modified, three Porsches, 1962 Thunderbird, 2CV, TVR Giff 500, BMW M5, Renault Clio Trophy. I like cars that I can use as reliable transport and a bit of motorsport - sprints, hillclimbs, trackdays etc. SUO is an 1800S and will be used in the short term for the odd European car tour, a few 12 car/scatter rallies and the odd track day (!) - I don't expect to win anything, it's just for fun. Car currently having all sills both sides replaced as well as a few other bits of rot - it would have probably been ok for another MOT or 2 but as I intend to give it some abuse I wanted it to be structurally as good as poss and outer sills were not good. Have done alternator conversion and halogen headlights, the mod where you put mini shocks on the front, and big bumpstops on the back. Fuel tank is being redone as well. Have found a chap that'll make me up an anti roll bar to the original spec of the early cars so that's underway. I'll stick some minilites on it and that's it until next year, when if finds allow, the engine will have some attention. Rest of the car is ok! Bodywork looks good from 10ft which is good enough and a previous owner had treated it to a very expensive retrim. All this work was started a couple of weeks ago and car should be back together again in a couple of weeks. Happy to update if these handling mods make any appreciable difference if anyone's interested? Ken Green and Tony Wood have been invaluable through this process of what to do and what not to do! Cheers Andrew
