There appear to be a number of companies on the internet that'll carry out the job. I went with a new replacement on mine and had to return it twice until I got one that worked (!) had same experience with a new servo on another classic as well. Once I got a good one there were no further problems but quality control was hit and miss, so I'd go with a rebuild if I were you - where at least they test them before they come back. Should make a helluva difference once done!

Picked it up yesterday and running and looking really good. It sat outside in -1 degrees last night while plastic boat lounged in heated garage (sikaflex curing)!! I think now I've completed exactly the same circle I did with 1800..all suspension rebushed, steering box refurb, top end rebuild, axle rebuild, corrosion attended to, bodywork smartened, heater improved and a million other minor things that most wouldn't bother with. I've still managed to between 2 to 3,000 miles on it every year but this year I hope to do some proper touring, whilst visiting and using the Model A in Scotland.....we shall see...the fates may have other plans! Cheers Andrew
PS Boat is a Terhi 385...little rowing boat for pottering up and down the creek/river we live near. Really wanted a Quintrex tinny but extremely rare over here!

Good to hear....lots happening on Bristol but have farmed it out to excellent new chap, whilst I concentrate on mini boat project...it's made of ABS (the boat) so am learning the mysteries of that which is interesting. Look forward to update in due course . All the best Andrew

Either a lot has happened at your end or you've been too busy with work and relaxing at the beach..... Cheers

I had a similar issue on mine….turned out to be a loose wire on the coil. Fingers crossed it’ll be something simple. Best of luck Andrew

Love the photos taken on 35mm and completely get the Moulton thing. I did similar a few years back but went pre war on bicycle front and Olympus Trip on camera front. My alternator on the cross flow needs a proper rev to get the light out but okay after that….the whines a worry though….dare I suggest big screwdriver….one end on possible offending part and other to your ear? Happy New Year Cheers Andrew

I'd echo Dave and say whatever you do with the head - existing or spare - I'd get it checked across the mating surface and across the exhaust side that it's flat and get it pressure tested. Trouble is you're probably already into £150 (certainly down our way) if it needs skimming at that point and for double that you could send it away (I looked at Peter Burgess website) and it comes back with job done and all new valves, guides etc. Also no earache. I completely get the other option of buying a complete engine /gearbox unit and just swapping the whole lot over and Tony Wood, would IMHO be a good starting point to see if he knows the whereabouts of such a thing. All the best Andrew

Proms - humbug - another American import! I could never understand why the 3 litre, Mini Van or Alfa Giulia weren't acceptable transport and we ended ended up renting a Mustang one year and a Camaro the next - both standard and both very disappointing to drive btw! Coolest arrivals were three young lads on Puch Maxi's btw! I always found putting a car back together a tricky balance between pushing on towards a deadline (and having a list of things to come back to!!) or taking all the time you need and it dragging on forever. Was thinking Christmas Day run to the beach with family might be good target! That'd give you some time to get it re registered or tested (I'm assuming Aussies have tougher rules and regs than we do in UK) put a few miles on it and get any bugs (not critters) out of it. Or perhaps that's not ambitious enough? Cheers Andrew

Tick tock....was it beginning or end of September? Either way I hope you're moving forward at a pace. Finally got Bristol back and all seems fine - put 2000 miles on her in a fortnight having a look at Essex coast and Pembrokeshire coast....reluctant to tinker any more as she's got wedding duties in October....(daughter)! Good luck Andrew

The reality is probably that if you've got a car full they'll all be listening to their own stuff, on their phones, with their ear buds in so all you need are a couple of USB charging points (and possibly one of those little portable Bluetooth speakers)! Good luck with rest of build up. Cheers Andrew
