Good stuff, Paul. Has a horrible air of familiarity about it!
Chris.

Good grief, that's horrible. It does make you wonder sometimes how people think - a lot of that would just have been easier to fix properly in the first place!

OK, I concede. Your car is as rusty as mine was. Are you at Tatton this weekend? I'll be down on the Wolseley Owners Club stand. Chris.

Thanks Paul. Some excellent work and photos. That view of the rear suspension mountings is particularly worrying; maybe your car is actually worse there than Chris' was? Regards David were the rear suspension bolts on or not in this case Paul

That's a massive price. It would be interesting to know what a typical price is to paint a car. I imagine that the more prep that is done before it gets to the paint shop the less labour will have to be paid for.

Sorry to hear about your knee. I guess you know not to overdo it because the pain and swelling has been lessened by the steroid injection. Often easier said than done as I recall when I damaged my back many years ago. Now winter's on its way a cold garage and concrete floor don't help either. Looking at Chris' restoration and the hours he recorded I guess the estimate shouldn't have come as a surprise for a job done properly, but it still does! If you can complete the welding, taking your time, then at least you are certain how it has been done and, given the history of your car, I'm sure that's important to you. Even with photos, restoratons don't always tell the full story. As Nick has pointed out the vast proportion of work relates to the preparation for the painting. Filling, smoothing, stopping etc and the actual spraying only takes a small fraction of the time. If you are able to do this yourself, it can be tedious, ask Chris but is something you can do as much or as little when you feel up to it. This should bring the costs down to something less of a shock. Regards David
