Any April Fool photos for us! Hope it's all going well. Regards David All hoses and cables now refitted. Started on the electrics. The planned upgrade will have to wait as time is becoming a bit of an issue. Won't be long now. Chris.

My fellow Igors...........
[glow=red,2,300]IT'S ALIVE! BWAHAHAHAHAHA![/glow]
This has nothing whatsoever to do with April 1st. Can't go anywhere yet as I've got to bleed up the brakes and sort out the o/s/f lights.
Once I'd sorted out all the oil (Fill transfer case, main oil gallery as well as sump) and water, it fired up more or less instantly. Hugely satisfying.
Chris.

Any leaks? Hmm - spent the evening trying to deal with the electrics. She doesn't appear to have marked her territory........... yet. I've now got a full set of headlights, spots and indicators. I've got one sidelight which will not come on and I've got no logical explanation as to why. So far I've had to replace a whole load of bullet connectors, various bits of general wiring and virtually all of the earth connections. Tommy's fuse box is behaving faultlessly, so really pleased and grateful about that. Plan - nail recalcitrant side light tomorrow evening, then set about bleeding the brakes. Not long now...... Please....... Chris.

then set about bleeding the brakes. Fingers crossed that that servo doesn't let the side down.

Is there power getting to the sidelight socket itself? if so and the earth is good, then perhaps a issue lies within the socket itself?

I've got it working. Extensive de-rusting of bulb socket required, refitted bulb and fuse blew. Took it apart again and pushed the centre, spring loaded terminal through. There should be a bakelite-type spacer around the centre terminal and is was conspicuous by it's absence. Insert bulb, pushes terminal to the side - dead short. Made up a 10mm disc out of some 1mm semi-flexible plastic. 2.5mm hole in the centre, then split it to one edge. The plastic has enough "give" to allow you to twist it open and fit it around the wire. Shove it home, check for free movement against the spring and refit bulb. Behold - your mothers brother is indeed called Robert.
Front bumper now fully re-attached. Front brakes have had an initial bleed. Given up now as it is snowing like fury and it's got d@mned cold.

I recall my MK1 Austin had wire ended sidelight bulbs that were very prone to corrosion especially as the light units seemed very attracted to water ingress and that was after only 7 years. Have you thought about hard wiring LED bulbs in place - I see there are direct replacements available? Next time it fails ....! Well done Chris, hopefully it will be back on the road by the end of this weekend, hope it warms up! Regards David I've got it working.
