Hi Dave
Did you try and find a local MGB club? There are several MGB forums on thr internet many of which seem to have quite a lot of UK input. You may just find someone there to point you in the right direction. Taking a Crab engine out is easier in my experience than extracting the MGB engine and gearbox and the clutches are very similar. Did you ever identify the cause of the failure, is is a hydraulic cylinder in which case it is straight forward. If the rear crak seal that's another story. Any oil dripping from the bell housing?
David

In my time I have removed engine and gearbox from both MGB GT and Mo. I cannot get down to see if there is any oil on the floor I want the engine running first, then somehow I will investigate the clutch further. The clutch just spins Dave

Hi Dave Do you mean that the clutch will diseangage but not take up the drive at all? Is there any clue through the pedal, does it feel normal? Hi David Pedal feels normal but there is no drive Car came to a halt 200 yards from home last November and was towed home by AA AA man pushed her into her present position in our basement car park There was no prior warning anything was wrong. I had taken car to local petrol station for fuel as MOT booked for the following day. Going up the steep hill to the petrol station the clutch started to slip. Managed to drive to station and refuel, then pull out to go home when the slippage became worse and I lost all drive Double whammy as new head gasket (fitted by a mobile mechanic) failed as I went for the fuel Dave

Unfortunately it doesn't sound like a hydraulic issue. No point second guessing the cause. I asked about oil coming out of the jiggle pin as an oil seal failure leading to an almost instant clutch failure would leave a trail. Hope you can find someone reliable to get Mo back on the road. Yes, affordable is important. Do you think that it may be possible to find a reliable young mechanic who would let you supervise the work if nothing else materialises?

Experimenting with that idea at the moment David - hence my home help is working on changing cylinder head. Painfully slow as I am not always well enough to supervise. No way can she work on the clutch, but the principle of someone working under my supervision seems practical. I bought her her own socket set and her husband and eldest son are amazed she can now do DIY around her house The basement car park is not a suitable place to remove the engine with other cars being parked close either side Dave
