As well as Mo, for years I have run a Mercedes 190E It failed its MOT in a big way in November so passed into scrapyard. 190’s are now so expensive I couldn’t afford another so a C class estate was purchased and delivered here on Christmas Eve. I hadn’t seen it physically before hand. My Son viewed it for me near where he lives in Surrey and thought it would be good to get my mobility scooter in and out. It has dreaded electronics which I don’t know Sunday I couldn’t access the car - the electronic key had failed. Chap came out yesterday and in 20 minutes had programmed a new key so the car was active again. A mere £350 for his work. Last time I bought a key for Mo it cost me under a fiver!

Watched that earlier today. First part he is really impressed. Second part he tears into it (his passion is the Metro) After 16 years of ownership I still prefer Mo over my Merc!

Very nice. You could do Mo Chris! I just can’t manage work on her now. I asked at the garage who sorted the wheel bearing and brake cylinder for me (my original guy has gone). They were supposed to call me with a quote but didn’t. One of my cleaners is getting to know Mo well. Doesn’t always comprehend what is required though. I sent her to shampoo the interior and it looks the same as before she did anything. She thought the spray was to feed the leather rather than clean the vinyl Pointless getting Mo show ready as I can’t drive her very far - me not Mo just isn’t up to it ☹️

Out in Mo yesterday. Came home to the unmistakable smell of very hot grease. Offside rear wheel too hot to touch New bearing being dispatched by Tony

Two hoses, four screws, two wires and two cables. How hard can it be....? I love an optimist! Dave

It’s me that gets the workout with that steering Dave! She is easier than the Merc for me t get in and out of
Thanks Andrew. Will try and use her more this year. Even Rach commented that she could feel the power. Mind you, the Merc has covered 222000 miles so the engine could do with attention. Certainly not up to that. A few years ago Merc dealer ‘repaired’ a V8 I used to own and sent it back firing on 7 cylinders. I dismantled that engine in the open in February, a few yards from the Tyne with the freezing wind around my ears, and got it running on 8. Main dealer hadn’t squeezed the oil out of the hydraulic tappets before refitting. They refunded me over £1000
Chris - you handywork on the floor is still much admired every time she goes in for MOT

Woke Mo from her winter slumber this morning and headed off through the sunshine to pub. Trouble was I couldn’t see out so had to divert into a hand washing facility to clean her. She looked much improved once clean. From a distance the rattle can paintwork looked respectable. She seemed delighted to be out and easily saw off some modern sporty thing at traffic lights 😀 Dave

This reminds me of when I bought Mo 16 years ago. I could only get 3 gears. If she went into second she wouldn’t go into third and if she went into third second wasn’t available The cure? I fitted a replacement gearbox Couldn’t even remove the gear lever nowadays
Hope you sort it soon

David - the original bill was £3200! I paid considerably less than that. Ironically they wanted to buy the car from me.

Couple of years ago clutch was changed on Mo. I said at the time that it was possible to change it just by removing the end cover but garage said engine had to come out I have just sold my knackered mobility scooter as I am not well enough to repair it. Man came to collect this afternoon and his eyes lit up when he saw Mo. He was a motor mechanic and after training got a job at a BMC main dealership. His first job was to change an 1800 clutch. He removed the end cover, changed the clutch and reassembled it in 4 hours, filled in his timesheet and was immediately reprimanded by the foreman as it is scheduled as a 10 hour job. So those cowboys who did mine wanting to charge a minimum of many hours were way out of line. No, I called their bluff and paid a reasonable amount for the work done Basically we now have proof that a clutch change via the end plate can be done Just saying
