Well the 'crab made it there and back with no problems, That's good news. I bet she enjoyed the run. What are the stripes on the rear seat/parcel shelf?

It's an old tassled picnic rug! Sounds like you need to have it modeled by a belly-dancer!

Not everybody combs the tassles up the back of the seat, though. Slight signs of obsessive behaviour there, Richard..... Chris.

lovely looking wolseley! not sure if you've got the steering sorted out yet, but its worth giving these people a try www.kellybraysteering.co.uk/i got a recon rack for my wifes reliant scimitar off the shelf, and when i collected it they said they could re-con pretty much any rack and power steering pump too - they even had a power rack for an austin 3 litre on the shelf which i was tempted by. think they could help you out with both your rack and pump hope this helps! cheers rich

Quite sure I heard or read it once.. BTW the 1800 slave cylinder is the same as used on Morgans:-)

:)That's a lovely example! By the way, Friday 27th August 1971 just happens to be my date of birth!!! I kid you not!! My dad had an Austin 1800 MK11 in Bedouin, 71 on a J plate. Lot's of memories of that car, sold it in 1980 as I recall. If you ever think of selling, I'd love to hear from you. Paul Barnett.

Just registered! Look's great Richard. My Dad had an Austin 1800, 1971 on a J (TDK 254J where are you now?) in Bedouin Beige. 27/8/71 is my date of birth I kid you not!!! so that made me smile!! Allways hankered after a Landcrab, had a few P6's and an early XJ6 but never got round to buying one. Live in Yorkshire these days and I pass a beautifull White Mk11 example in ecclesfield quite often. Gorgeous!!

Welcome aboard, WB. Are you planning on getting yourself a 'Crab? Any pictures of your father's old one would be gratefully received.
Chris.

Hi Barney, and welcome to the forum. Amazing about the date of birth. I will let you know if I decide to sell the 'crab.
Richard.

Hi,
Mines a 71 too but it doesn't have the pcv valve and bits on it that yours does. Since it's got a later MK 3 engine I'd be surprised if it wasn't fitted originally. Is it worth retrofitting?

The MK111 cars had a different carb with a contant depression take off that connected to the oil separator /filter on the tappet cover. This replaced the PCV. If you have the original carb without the take off then it is important to reinstate a PCV as it ensures a slight negative pressure in the crankcase to assist internal oiling and prevent oil being blown past engine seals. If the pipe is left open it is hazardous to your health, and the environment. If blocked off you will damage the crank oil seals. It is impossible to get the a/f mixture correct without the pcv or mk111 carb attachment. David Hi, Mines a 71 too but it doesn't have the pcv valve and bits on it that yours does. Hi Dave,
Had a look and it's got the later version of the system with the feed into the forward right of the carburettor base. It works OK too - open the rocker cap & the rpm climbs a bit & vice versa. You wouldn't happen to know btw, how much reserve do I have when fuel gauge hits empty and is there anywhere I can find the *outer* gasket for a rhs rear light cluster?
PS: It's *much* easier to get the taillight on & off when you need to if you fit them with wingnuts. You want M5 thread nuts, and I've used plastic/nylon ones - 4 each side for the Wolseley. This should work for the others - but there will be one nut with an earth, so watch for that.
