Nice job, Charly. At least you'd got lots of metal to work with . Fabrication is now complete on this one. Doubtless I have the joys of filling and flatting to look forward to.... Still, pleased with how that's worked out. Chris.

Doubtless I have the joys of filling and flatting to look forward to.... And that's what I've been doing today. Very exciting. Not. To be fair, I fancied a bit of a break from fabrication and welding, so I can't complain. I'll stick a pic or two up when the front starts looking decent. Chris.

Further to the slow down in progress due to health issues, things were compounded by the garage being broken into on the 22nd of February. My work bag of hand tools was taken and the welder and gas bottle. So, that was the full set of stuff I've been using to work on the car gone, plus the garage door was damaged. I reacted very badly to the whole episode and finished up back in hospital on Sunday night and missed a week at college. The police say that four other garages locally were broken into, that they weren't locals who did it and they've no idea who they were. The insurance company have agreed in principal to pay, so I've managed to replace a selection of my hand tools and on Friday I ventured over to the dark side Lancashire and bought a new welder. Saturday got the gas, wire and regulator sorted so today............. Chopped the corner off that Maxi panel. Welded into the car. Base panel is made but not welded home yet. A closing panel in the wheel arch will also be required. Quite pleased to be doing something again. Chris.

Chris, Sorry hear of the theft, unpleasant experience. Latest efforts on the car looking good though. I'm due in Leeds in the next couple of months so I'll give you a shout if you are up for a visit.

Gutted to hear that mate. I hate low-life scum like that.
Hopefully the insurance company does come to the party.

Thanks chaps. Enjoyed getting some stuff done again. Dave1800 has been aware of this and been a bit of a brick about it - I suspect that he's been keeping more of an eye on things in here than I have over the last few weeks, so thanks to him.
I don't always "get" the mentality of these people - pinch the welder, fair enough, it has a small value. Why pinch a Hobbyweld gas bottle? It can only be returned to Hobbyweld with the blue copy of your deposit agreement and is otherwise a total liability. I can only assume that they are so thick that they don't know how to disconnect it. It's all just aggro.
Anyway, life is better, I'm a bit better, the sun was out this afternoon, so spring is on the way - let's enjoy.
Chris.

Bit more done. Bottom of the corner in - combination of plug and lap welds. Inner wheel arch repair. Very awkward access, so quite pleased with that. Closing panel. It all needs to be ground down to tidy up. Little patch to go into the actual arch section and a final section for the inner arch by the closing panel and that'll finish the corner off. Chris.

Nice little job there on the last photo, was it tricky to do?

Cheers, chaps. Not sure about particularly tricky or showing off - the trick seems to be to work out the sequence of events to make access as easy as possible. The closing panel was an "L" section, so lap welded across the top and bottom, fillet weld down the inside corner, and I need to make a little piece to join it to the inner arch repair panel. Then, the strip into the arch section itself.
Chris.

Last bit of wheel arch done. Almost managed to make it invisible. I have undone the front suspension housing ready to access the chassis legs and underfloor repairs. I seem to lack sufficient brute force to move it.... Should manage to get some help tomorrow, so we can get cracking properly. In the meantime, I've removed the drivers seat and poked the floor to great effect. It's not nice. It's not nice at all. Just wait until you see what's underneath! I'm rather disappointed to see the hole in the inner sill. It lines up with the front jacking point and I had hoped to get away without removing/replacing the o/s sill. We'll see what tomorrow brings. Chris.

In shock late evening news, Ady has just stuck his head round the door to see if I want to go for a pint . Of course I do - stupid question....... . But first - let's have a look in the garage. Two crowbars and a bit of anglegrindering later, the suspension is dismantled. Boy, I'm going to make a mess tomorrow. Off to buy Ady a pint. Chris.
