Just handling things is so much more pleasant. I did all the bolts, nuts, washers and studs with a brass brush in the pillar drill, then chased all the threads as well, mainly for the same reason! Moving swiftly onwards.... I've been playing about with polyurethane rubber over the last month or so. Nice indoor project, rather than being out in the cold. Today I fitted my new fangled radiator mounting bushes. First efforts were to make a direct copy of the original bush. Radiator mounting bushes by Penguin 45, on Flickr Very lovely. Issues found with getting the moulds to register properly and excess flash needing lots of trimming. I fitted a pair to the top radiator bracket. That was an educational experience. Whilst PU is tough, hard wearing and has the same vibration properties as rubber, it doesn't move like it. I had a helluva job fitting them. So, time for a re-think. Spacer tube will centralise them and hold them together whilst the bolts are re-fitted. Radiator mounting bushes by Penguin 45, on Flickr Like that. Easy peasy - half an hour, start to finish. Chris.

Bought a kilo of PU from MB Fibreglass, as well as some black pigment. The blue plastic is HD polythene offcuts. Couple of quid from eBay. Other works are in hand.

Choke's not been going off fully. Releasing the cable from the mechanism showed it to be free moving throughout its travel. Bought a generic solid wire cable with a black knob on the end and fitted that this morning (with a new screw-on nipple and a bulkhead grommet). Choke now goes off fully when the knob is pushed home.
Nice to do a bit of "carry" stuff.
Chris.

BTW, if anyone can tell me how to take a decent photograph of an object down a tube, please say so!

Like it. Had a heck of a job finding new bush for my rack. Mmm must be a double entendre in there somewhere.

Yeah, sorry Tony. Went a bit Yorkshire whilst we were hunting your one down. And there was an old rack in the garage. And plenty of time to spare.
