So sorry to hear that Chris; it seems never ending. regards David Day one of two weeks without family or modern cars, so work stuff in the back of the Red Dog. Left last call, loud pop, severe inclination to the right, fluid under the front of the car. Bum. Chris.

Pulled suspension apart on Monday afternoon. Found that the displacer hose had failed. New hose fitted on Tuesday - see TECHNICAL FOR DETAILS. Re-assembled it all today. Quite straightforward - the only complication was that the outer pushrod didn't want to slide into the inner one as they didn't align. In view of Snoopy's recent experience, this is obviously not a good thing. Peering through the gap between the suspension housing and the inner wing from underneath the car, I used a Cortina aerial wire coathanger to pull the outer push rod down and into engagement. Apart from that, simple. It all blew up without incedent as well. I was a bit worried in view of the slightly experimental nature of the displacer, but I appear to have got it right. Chris.

The technical article you've placed for this is great Chris, especially the accompanying photographs. I agree with Indy that this is what makes this forum so special. Money saving and education combined! Nick

Unable to face the the prospect of pulling Eugenie's engine at the moment, so I dealt with the back of the drivers seat on this one this afternoon. It kept falling off due to the ancient hardboard having lost its spring. Nice satisfying little job. Chris.

And back again. Just a quick drop-in on the parents.
760 miles covered, ½ pint of oil used and a smigden over 35 mpg. Quite impressed. Most of this was motorway/dual carraigeway mileage, so 60-65mph was the order of the day.
Off to Thoresby Park in the morning for the Morris Register National Rally. LOCI and WOC both have stands, so should be a good turn out.
Chris.

I have just watched a programme on BBC about a couple of artists who have made £millions from creating among other things shadows of themselves by cleverly arranging their junk into sculptures. Looks like an oportunity missed for you Junk shadowsDavid Told you the garage was a tip........ Nearly there now. Chris.

I've seen that on-line. Some very clever thinking gone on there. The other useful thing I did was to buy a tool chest. It's not one of the über "Snap On" things, but simply rounding up most of the tools and sorting them into the drawers has created so much space it's quite astonishing. Anyway, once that pile has gone I'm back in business. Chris.

Joe-the-Scrap has been round and cleared the pile for a modest sum. Then I got the brush out.... ...and another sizeable pile appeared, although this was dealt with the snow shovel, yard brush and dustbin. Bullied a couple of teenagers (Mine were mysteriously absent) into dragging the engine crane back across from over the road. Just got to get Eugenie across the road and in now and the latest round of fun and frolics can begin. Chris.

Garage looks good, and bigger too. There's something cathartic about having a good old clear out. Hope the Eugenie fun and games go OK
