Hi, Chris!
Yes, I'm still with you all! However, it's been a busy period. I'm sorry I haven't posted for a long time.
I have however been watching your progress on the Austin, and must say I'm very impressed, both by your skills and how fast you've turned it into a working, solid car! So congratulations! It must be very satisfying to have come this far with the rebuild! It looks great!
Good luck with the test. My blue one sailed through the Norwegian test today. Slight play in one lower balljoint, which I'll have to look into, otherwise all fine.
Best regards, Tommy

Thanks everybody. MoT test tomorrow, 1.30pm. I'm hoping that Dave the Tester has had his happy pills..... Tyres haven't arrived yet, so I managed to scrape a decent set together from spares. Eugenie is currently sat on an axle stand due to the absence of one wheel and the spare. Seats are back in, windows cleaned (2 hours!), naughty side light sorted and she's looking good to go. Fingers crossed. Chris.

Hi Chris! Sorry to hear that. It's always annoying, I've been there too!
On the bright side, think of what you've achieved with this car. It's amazing! Now it's just a matter of fixing what failed. Piece of cake compared to what you've done so far!
Regards, Tommy

Apologies for the delay. So what actually happened was: We got the new tyres fitted. Popped down to the garage and stuck in £20 worth of fuel. Went to the MoT Station the slightly longer way round (About 5 miles - hem, hem.). Car in countryside pic. It drove very nicely. Gear change is different - the cables make for a slower but very positive selection. Anyway, down to Aldridges...... Roy the Tester (as opposed to Grumpy Dave the Tester) was doing it and was quite complimentary about the car. Everything went swimmingly until the rear brakes were tested on the rollers - the o/s rear cylinder let go. Brake fluid dribbling all over the place. So, it's failed on the leak, rear brake imbalance and handbrake efficiency. Being honest about it, it's my own fault. Everything else in the braking system has been replaced or refurbished, except that one cylinder. It's done now, new cylinder on the o/s and new shoes both sides. On the advice of the tester, I have set the handbrake to have slightly more travel, which apparently will allow a more positive action. Couple of underneath shots while she was up on the ramps. Grumpy Dave wandered in at this point, stood underneath looking up and very, very slowly turned through 360º. Eventually he said "Bl@@dy hell" and wandered off again! Re-test Tuesday afternoon. Fingers crossed. Chris.
