Tha's a reet bad lad, our Andrew. I'm Cornish despite having lived in God's Own County for the last 26 years. Apparently this still means that "Tha's nowt but a blow-in".
Bonnet number 3 has been welded and filled. Tomorrow - the sanding board. It could be a long day........

Long day? This is going to run through Sunday as well. Here it is: Little bit of filler across the leading edge. Covers the welded repairs and a few dimples. Larger area on the front top surface filled. This had several large dents which I managed to reduce a bit, but were largely inaccessible due to the inner frame. And that big area on the right is like a rough sea. Again, I've managed to partly level it, but an extensive swipe of filler is inevitable. Much flatting tomorrow. Chris.

'Tis done (for the moment). Got the right hand side as flat as it's reasonably going to get. Dusting of etch primer over the bare metal areas. Two coats of primer. Bit stripey, but I did do this outside, so it'll do for now. I was going to pop it back on the car, but then I spotted this scab by the rear bonnet buffer....... Poked it. Welded it up. Bit black as it was difficult to get the torch in close due to the channel section. Anyway, it's not going to fall off. It'll get ground back tomorrow. Wouldn't be the same without a bit of welding, would it? Chris.

Looking the business - wow! This is the current fashionable look (particularly amongst hot rodders)as I'm sure you know so don't ruin it by painting it any more! I think it looks v.cool like this.

Chris, I would like to add my congratulations to your magnificent effort in what must be the restoration of the century. Whenever I have felt life was getting too hard, I've often come to your thread to find nothing but good cheer in the face of continued challenge and I have come away feeling that things aren't so bad after all. Thank you for the kind words. In return I would say that the support I have received from the members of the board have helped keep me plodding along with it. A year ago I was doubting whether or not I could do it at all. Got the rear bumper back on today. Note swept floor...... This bumper has got the "shelf" inside it, which required one very minor welded repair. When shot home, it's a very exact fit to the rear profile of the car, so I'm quite pleased that the panelwork has remained in the right place. Further progress was slowed by finding little bits that need finishing off. A load of gobby welding was found under one rear corner that hadn't been flatted back, so did that, then it has to be painted. Inside of the front wings had to be shutzed before the front bumper goes on. Nearside was no problem; off side revealed the little closing piece for the bottom end of the sill still hadn't been done, so that gobbled up a couple of hours with welding, flatting and painting before I could shutz the inside of the wing. Oh, yes - drill holes for the bumper bolts, seeing as I forgot when putting the engine back in. Looking at the way the bolts fit, I have a horrible suspision that the radiator is going to have to come out to allow the nearside iron to be bolted home. I shall find out tomorrow. Anyway - Sturday night - beer o'clock and time for Match of the Day. Cheers, Chris.

Massively productive day today, if somewhat meandering. Shot the front bumper into its holes and bolted the offside into place within minutes. Whilst crawling around the floor down there, I realised that the 133 plug welds which retain the sill hadn't beem flatted back. Well, that was good for an hour and a half of mind-numbing entertainment. And the bottom of the wing needed welding to the sill. Then some etch primer, and got the whole sill into primer. Then, round to the nearside. Front bumper bolt popped through and bolted down no problems. Rear one, as intimated in a previous post, was completely obstructed by the proximity of the radiator to the inner wing. Time for some serious observtional fault finding. Looking at the engine showed the front right mounting to be pushed over towards the right, and if you looked carefully, the engine was lower at the left than the right. I realised that the left-hand engine mount had virtually split apart. I'm kicking myself, really. If I'd clocked it with the engine out, changing it would have taken ten minutes. An hour and a half, and some bounteous bad language later, the engine had moved ¾" to the left and fingers could be stuck into the gap, bolts inserted and the bumper mounted. And that was it - outside of car assembled. Until I looked at the front bumper properly..... the top edge sits about 1½" above the shelf. The Wolseley is only about ½" above the shelf. The bumper itself still had a BL parts label stuck on the inside, so it's a replacement. I think that the irons are the wrong way round and therefore upside down. B@gger. Otherwise, tyres are on their way, I'll get the windows sorted during the week and get some interior re-fitted. MoT is provisionally booked for Friday. Chris.

Oh, yes - shutzed the rear wheel arches and attempted to adjust the handbrake. This led to the demolition of the off-side rear hub. I got the adjuster moving eventually, and the cylinder sliding in its mounting as it should. Handbrake seems to be fairlyeffective. I hope Dave (The Tester) has had his happy pills on Friday.
