Snoopy has sent some pics over : Oil leak from crankshaft seal. Looking rather oily across the sump joint. Hopefully Snoopy will add some commentary later. Chris.

My old engine - disembowelled....... And my spare "To be unleaded at some point" head has disappeared as well. Chris.

My old engine - disembowelled....... And my spare "To be unleaded at some point" head has disappeared as well. Chris. It all looks fine to me. They have gone to a good home. Whilst the the engine has been away at the engineers they have found a couple of little show stopping problems. My original head has had a previous very bad repair to a crack on an exhaust port and a hairline crack was found on the crank. Mr P's stash of parts has been rapidly raided today and the replacements taken to the engineers. Progress on the car has been to clean up forty years of accumulated crud off various bits of the engine bay. This has resulted in a self destructing brake servo. A refurbishment kit was ordered at 2.30 yesterday afternoon and overnight delivery arrived at 9.00 this morning. Brilliant service from Power Track. If if anyone's wondering why there is such a rush all of a sudden it's because my significantly better half has managed to ask two weeks after the engine was taken out if it's going to be done for our wedding on 8th May. She could have said something a bit earlier. Watch this space if it makes it. I may need a cunning backup plan.

To much rust and brake fluid inside the self destructing servo.

That looks like it's been weeping for a while.

A bit more progress. The surface rust on the suspension tube has been cleaned up and a good coat of under seal applied. The self destructing servo has been reconditioned. New seals etc and a coat of shiny black paint.

Latest work has been to tidy the engine bay. Before I get told off for not stripping it out completely it's more a case of rushing as my deadline is approaching fast and the engine isn't back yet.

Yes Chris. It's getting there. Im just getting a bit twitchy about deadlines now. The engine is not back yet. Progress today has been to put nicely painted bits on. Also a couple of these have been put on so Chris can now stop telling me off for not having them.

Yesterday saw the return of the block and the head from the engineers so today's work has been all about bolting things back together. It's not complete yet but it's starting to look like an engine.
