It might really be a question for Neil. I've had a browse of the 3 Litre workshop manual and I can't say that I recognise anything common to our cars. A lot of the 1800 rubber components are obsolete. I make some of them, but I don't think they'll fit the 3 Litre. Your car uses the "new" C series engine, which it shares with the MGC. That might possibly be a place to look.
Nick managed to improvise displacer boots using CV joint boots (presumably from something large) with great success.
Trust hubby is bearing up.
Chris.

Hi As Chris said I have used a CV boot as a displacer dust cover. It was actually his idea and worked well on the rear ute style carriers. There is a company here in Oz that I found who make stretchy boots. These are the guys www.stretchcvboot.com/cv-boots/I used a CVS-33 and it fits well on the 1800 front displacer. Not sure what size the 3lt displacer is so you would have to check. I believe they are a bit different. The front of the 1800 displacer where the boot attaches is 115 mm. The diaphragm cone on the ute setup protrudes a maximum of around 20mm when the wheel is lowest. This boot accommodates that fine in the first wide section of the concertina. I have not got to the front displacers yet to check how far they protrude but I don't expect it to be too much of a problem. I expect I will find out in due course. Nick

so engine has been rebuilt crank ground new main and big end bearings, along with anything else it needed, gearbox was sent off and reconditioned, returned and reattached, all ready to go back in, we are now almost ready for our respray, a new front valance was sourced along with two front door skins (thank you sooooo much to Tony Wood ) a real real good person. A new old stock door nsr was sourced and we are hoping to find out tomorrow if we have found the last one needed osr. Once these have been fitted the shell is ready. Plan is to have her back on the road for May June next year to start the show season. I have found this site really informative and interesting to see all that others are upto, even though we only really share doors general info can help in so many ways so thank you all for your help. More pics soon .Louise

Hi Louise
Thanks for posting the photos it is good to see you are making progress. I dread to think how much the engine weighs knowing how heavy the 1800 lump is.
