So sorry to hear the frustrating news. Any sign of the dreaded green fluid anywhere? David Er, nope. Slowly coming down..... Not the hose or joint. Chris.

Oh, yes. As far as I can tell, it's coming from the rubber around the hose fitment. So, that'll be another scrap one.
I have sourced a replacement at a sensible price, but it'll take a few days to come. I think I'll just leave the garage locked for a few days and recover my sanity.
Chris.

That's rotten luck Chris. Hope the replacement is sound.
One final thing, though. Are you suggesting that people on here are actually SANE?

Don't start, don't start, you. Rubber around the hose fitting cracked = leak. Chris.

That's a pic of the last spare one I had stashed in the garage over the road and which I fitted more in blind hope than expectation. It has now been replaced again today. As I said, she's up. The cracked area around where the hose spigot is moulded into the rubber is leaking. Oddly enough, when I drained it with the pump, it was holding pressure at 120psi, so it did shoot some fluid back into the container. This suggests that the cracks were quite fine, but unable to contain the full 220/230psi when the system is fully pressurised.
Chris.

Glad to hear that the car isn't back down Chris.
How does the diaphragm look on the leaking one in the picture? The reason I ask is I am looking for a good diaphragm from a rear unit.

Not quite sure what you mean. Both ends of the displacer flex - the push rod end is intact on this one.
Anyway, she has been thoroughly bounced, air bled out of both sides, re-raised and levelled. Started second turn of the key (not bad after a couple of weeks) and went out for a potter. All seems good and no clack. I'll take her down to the LOCI Northern Rally tomorrow.

Not quite sure what you mean. Both ends of the displacer flex - the push rod end is intact on this one. Chris. Glade all is well. Sorry yes I should gave made it clearer. The pushrod end is a diaphragm and the pipe end is a rubber spring. Both ends move yes. If you haven't cut one up to look, you won't have seen it as a diaphragm. I am trying to track down a diaphragm that is in good condition. It needs to be from a displacer that is not repairable by current means. I don't want to waste precious good units. I have a couple or rear units in my shed and one has a very good diaphragm, but the displacer is good so I dont want to waste it! I am looking into making new diaphragms hence needing a good example. Would you consider cutting this one up if the diaphragm is in good condition? When I say good condition what I am looking for is uniform shape ie no lumps in the rubber and smooth not perished. Hairline cracks in the rubber won't matter though. Thanks Nick

MoT test tomorrow morning. Wiper rubbers replaced, n/s/r door mechanism repaired, washer nozzles adjusted, all lights checked and exhaust manifold joined re-sealed. Again. Did "The Mod" to the clamp on this one, which makes the experience rather easier. Fingers crossed. Chris.
