im hoping to be looking at a wolseley soon for sale I understand the rust areas are wheel arches, in the boot, floors, sills, bottom of doors, rear corners, inner wings, wings,
How do I check the rear subframe other than go underneath are they like on the ado16 were you can lift the back seat up and check the rear heelboard?

You are in luck - there is no rear subframe. What you've got instead are two trailing arm sub-assemblies. These contain the displacers as well. You need to check the mountings for them. Two bolts at the front and an alloy carrier at the rear which bolts through the boot floor. Have a look HERE for a pictorial explanation. T'other Chris.

HNY to you too, Chris.
Top side is easy enough - two bolts each side of the boot floor and two bolts each side under the rear seat bolster. Front end you'd have to go under and have a good poke. Each unit has two bolts running up into a blind fixing on a shelf like structure. Easy fix if there are problems.

Hi Chris but would you go to all that effort whilst viewing the car before buying it? I would be worried about snapping the bolts

I think any seller would be happy enough for you to look under the car. Professional sellers may have access to a lift to make the job easier. I have never attempted to remove any part from a car whilst at the sellers - not done, you know. To be fair a good poke of the boot floor and the area behind the seat squab will help - the areas should sound solid. The front fixings underneath are more difficult, but the same thing applies - it should sound and feel solid. When you do want the bolts out of the alloy carrier they almost always break. Chris.
