You will have cause to remove the rear suspension at some point. This is how you do it.
Raise the rear of the car. Chock front wheels securely and put car in reverse.
Release brake line.
Release hand brake cable. I have done this at the bellcrank as access was easier.
Disconnect hydrolastics. Drop hose out of bracket.
Support housing before attempting to remove mounting bolts. It's pretty heavy. Don't lift the car.....
Release front pair of bolts - they can be very tight.
Release rear pair of bolts. Be careful! They are screwed into an aluminium carrier frame and I have always broken at least one bolt every time I've done this. Typically, this time it all came apart nicely.
Lower suspension housing.
Wince at what is revealed.
Assuming that the carrier needs to come out for repairs.....
Unscrew two bolts just below rear seat back.
Undo two more through the boot floor.
One freshly removed - grotty and missing a bump stop. I'll refit the refurbished red one.
That's how to do it. Stay safe, don't work underneath the car alone and bear in mind that the housing is heavy.
