Andrew Congrats to you and your wife, I hope everything goes very well. With that and your job move you won't know whether you are coming or going, you may need to modify your R75 like this one. Attachments:

David, I think you are right about the sills. Sad to watch but I am glad we were spared the action going on inside the back of the truck. Nick

Chris, I'm sure all your of hard work and patience will pay off with a great looking car. I found some crusty bits in my offside rear arch this weekend, probably shouldn't put it off too long. Nick

Thanks for all the feedback which makes for interesting reading. In a few hundred miles time when the Tetraboost has gone I am going to try Castrol Valvemaster with the Octane boost and continue to use 97RON Super. Chris, ironically the previous owner reported the exact opposite symptoms to your car; mine apparently doesn't like 95RON so I haven't tried it. The current setup with I have indicates 99 equivalent so I'll start at that and maybe drop it back a bit at a time and see how the car runs. It will be gradual and won't start for a few weeks yet but I'll let you know how I get on. Alexander, If my car had the right size tyres and never got above 60MPH I would probably do what you do with your Maestro, as it is I am sure it hits 4000RPM quite often.
Incidently I did a quick cost up and at UK prices Valvemaster adds about 6p per litre while Millers and Tetraboost were just over 20p - big difference.

When I bought my car the previous owner gave me a part used bottle of Tetraboost which I have been adding to 97 grade super unleaded and the car runs fine. This is now coming to the end and I need to decide what to do next. Tetraboost is only available in bulk and I would have to buy enough to treat about 700 litres of petrol in one hit for about £140. I am not sure I want three years supply of lead hanging around in my garage. Tetraboost also claim that their latest product will also protect against Ethanol petrol up to E15 mix which. I am sure that Tetraboost is a good product but I am interested in the alternatives.
For those running cars without hardened valve inserts what if any additives do you use and how do you get on. I am sure this has been raised before though I couldn't see an obvious thread. Nick

Hello David, I've only just got round to writing to them so no answer as yet. If I am successful I'll probably need a bit of guidance getting it loaded up once I have done a scan. I think the article is edited from the author's book "Travels with Gelignite Jack" now long out of print.

Chris, Impressive reading, most of it goes over my head to be honest but impressive nonetheless. Mine has a 123 system which is one of the mods I am very pleased with. When it's running it always pulls cleanly across the rev range and feels strong. No car activity for me for two weeks now due to family commitments and indifferent weather.
Spring is on its way I hope - Nick

There is also a great article about the same trip written by Evan Green, split over the November and December 1991 editions of Car magazine. I found them on eBay quite easily last year. Nick

David, Not 100% sure what I am looking for but I removed the screenwash container and sitting below it is the dusty device that you can make out beneath the foreground cables going to the battery +ve terminal. Is that it? Nick Attachments:

Keeping the Faith
My Dad had very kindly made me a new rear parcel shelf to replace the rotten one I discovered a few weeks ago, and this weekend he brought it down from Yorkshire on a family visit. The least I could do in return was to offer to take him out in it for a run and let him have a little drive. It's good to get someone else's feedback and he thought the car was great, loved the way the B series pulled strongly from low revs, liked the seats and thought the steering and handling was spot on. The current drain has not yet reappeared and even the old battery had enough left so as not to need the boost starter pack. A great couple of days after a period of uncertainty. I suppose classic car ownership is like that.
If all goes well I'll take myself off to the Pride of Longbridge in mid April and meet some other Midland Landcrab owners. Looking forward to it. Nick

I don't use the car as a daily driver so Chris your thought is a valid one. If the electric pump starts giving trouble I'll get all the bits and put it back to standard, along with the electric fan as the whole lot seems to go together as an integrated package. I think the radiator has different outlets to a normal one so this may prove a headache.
I bought the car to see if classic ownership was for me so I didn't spend a great load of money on it figuring that if I didn't like it, it wouldn't hurt too much to move it on at a later date. I want to enjoy it over the coming season and see how it goes. If I keep it then I will probably change a few things. The steering column as mentioned elsewhere definitely has to go. With hindsight I would have bought a standard spec car.

Like that a lot. Are those standard wheels and what age or year is it? I can tell its a Longbridge rather than a Cowley car but I have forgotten all the specs that I used to know so well.
