Hi Jeff. Just popped in to add your email message and you've beaten me to it. Fuel Tank by Penguin 45, on Flickr Looks like a good solid job. Wise words about the condition of tanks - safety critical, so nice to know that Andy is providing a viable alternative. Chris.

I see what you did there...
Safety's a bit of a hard call. The 'Crab stuff rides around on my car for a while, just to convince me. There is some basic stuff first. First casts are uncoloured, which lets me check for inclusions. These are usually air and can be caused by a quirk of the mould design or bad pouring. Then I make a few coloured ones and check for Shore (hardness) rating. When fully cured I try and destroy them! That's usually pretty difficult even allowing for me not being as strong as I once was.
In the case of the bushes above, they were made to the Morris Register's specification, test samples made as above and a small selection sent to the Club for their people to have a play with prior to accepting the bulk order. Evidently they were happy.
The mould was made as four to show, so twenty five lots of moulding, which became twenty six after inspection and a few extras had to be made. By the end, I was pretty much sick of the sight of them.
Chris.

With the polyurethane stuff, it's quite nice to make ten of this or twenty of that. Large numbers can cause sanity issues. So what do you do when somebody wants 100 bushes? Morris Eight spring bushes by Penguin 45, on Flickr Just get on with it, of course! The Morris Register ordered up spring eye bushes for the Morris Eight, and who am I to say no? C.

my welding was approved by a professional! Yay!horn doesn't work, Bad earth.washers barely work, Electric pump? Bad earth.handbrake crap - the handbrake cable arm is on backwards on the O/S - wasn't me honest, Don't try and set the cable too tight. Make sure bell cranks all move freely. Make sure cylinders can slide on the backplate.sidelights intermittent, Bad eartho/s rear door outside handle button doesn't work, Rod popped off probably.I haven't gotten around to putting the bump-stops on yet When you get a moment...I'd add to that - fit MGB anti-rattle clips to the front brakes because they're very irritating! Good info. Not heard that one.Plenty of fettling; nothing serious. Bad earths are an on-going battle on these - especially the main one on the inner wing. Chris.

Sounds the same. This is the ad: Clarke CMD300 Mill by Penguin 45, on Flickr I'm gradually acquiring all the bits to use it properly. A set of thin parallels is the next target. Later will be collets. C.

Work on the mill is continuing. I have added a tacho display, as I lack the skill to judge spindle speed with my level (complete lack!) of experience. £9.50 saw a sensor and display kit winging its way from China and a further £4.50 bought a 1 amp 12Vdc LED driver in the post. Clarke CMD300 Mill by Penguin 45, on Flickr Neatly mounted and the electrics hidden away. A complete steal for a total of £14. I've also bought a machine vice; a 4" Accu-Lock. Plenty of good reviews, despite the price point very obviously shouting "Chinese". I've taken an indicator over it and it really is very good. Unfortunately, just handling the vice saw the paint falling off! Presumably not de-greased prior to painting. Clarke CMD300 Mill by Penguin 45, on Flickr Scrubbed down with Scotchbrite, thoroughly de-greased and painted with a decent oil-based machinery paint. Clarke CMD300 Mill by Penguin 45, on Flickr Re-assembled. I managed to keep the accuracy as well, so quite pleased. Prior to putting it back together I had to break the edges on every block ad straight edge, with the exception of the nicely chamfered jaws and their mounting blocks. At the price point I'm not going to complain. Chris.

45 - 50 lb/ft is normal. I work for a Mini specialist who re-torque the head ("A" series engine) after the first heat cycle and then again at 500 miles.

Having a senior moment there. Wayne. The secret bolt down the hole is in the transfer casing outside the clutch.
If you can't find a replacement gasket, bear in mind that the only section which holds oil is bottom left (red arrow going through it). The rest of the gasket is effectively acting as a spacer for the housing. It looks like there was very little oil in there, so bear in mind Nick's comment about running a pint of oil in there through the square nut on top of the casing.
The fluid on the clutch arm bellow can really only be from the clutch cylinder, so double check that.
Chris.
