Hi there lads, A question that might be more geared towards my neighbours across the drink in 'Straya: My Father in law is looking at buying another Marina to go with his TC Coupe. The car in question is a mid 70s Saloon with the 2.6L inline 6 version of the E-series engine. Apparently the car has low oil pressure and my FIL thinks it might be due to something being amiss in the head. What are the known causes of oil pressure issues on the E-series engine and possible remedies? (could be oil pump etc?) Now there isn't a lot of information on the net regarding the 2.6L version of the engine, but going by what I have researched, it sounds like the engine is the same as the 2.2L version found in our 'crabs, but has a longer stroke, so I'm assuming that the heads etc are the same between the two. Any advice/clues would be greatly appreciated! -Andrew PS There was a clip out of a period newspaper I found online last month regarding the car, but in my infinite wisdom I lost the link, i'll try and find it again and post it here.

The 2.2 E6 was a 1500 E4 bored out. The Ozzies bored out a 1750 E4 to get the 2.6 engine. You might want to put this up on the other forum as Ahctog is pretty knowledgable on these engines and he'll see it there.

There was also a 2.4L engine used in the Austin Freeway which was a 6 cylinder version of the B series. Shame they didn't use it in the Crab (I assume it would fit?). The first thing with suspected low oil pressure is to attach a reliable gauge and measure it. It could be simply the oil pressure switch that is at fault. Other external checks are the pressure release valve, oil filter and the grade of oil. After that it is a case of dismantlng the engine and inspecting for wear.

I wonder how it handled. I drove a 1.3 and 1.8 Marina and the handling of the latter with the heavy engine was "interesting".

I imagine it'd handle awfully lol, that being said, I'm keen if the FIL wants to go ahead with the sale.
His biggest concern is sourcing new lower trunnions if the current ones are naffed/fail down the line, as they're unique to the IL6 version and net searches are failing to find anything.
