Can't help you. May I ask why you want to stay with the mechanical pump? I had nothing but trouble with them.
Chris.

Hi Chris I just wanted it to be standard really, but i think i will end up with electric fuel pump. I have done some research on different cams but any advise on cams would be greatfully accepted

You need to consider what you want to do with the car. I have just put a Kent fast road cam in mine as I want the full power range at the expense of the top end speed. If you put a race cam in it will be a horrible drive in slow town traffic. My advise would be to contact a cam manufacturer or an engine builder and they will be able to match the cam to your needs.

I think 12H 2746 superceded to 88G 303, which is the standard MGB 5 bearing camshaft. It appears to have a lobe for the pump drive. I'd check that, though. Chris.

It is the same as a standard MGB cam, but I don't think all MGB cams have lobe you need for the crab petrol pump.
Anyway, when I rebuilt the engine they managed to move the lobe over from the old cam to the new one. It worked, too. So it can be done. It was just about the only thing they got right:-)

Hi I was told by Piper that moving the lobe was possible, and Chris i think your right the MGB is the 88g303. Tommy how did you remove the lobe? Snoopy yes i had a long conversation with Mark Swingler and Piper , piper say mild road should be ok for normal running and even to a degree a fast road, but i am still undecided which way to go, if i can get an the original i will go that way but the option above the 88g303 and move the lobe might be the way Paul

The lobe was removed and put on the new cam by the engine reconditioner's. No idea how they did it. For some reason beyond me, they installed a 285 cam which was not exactly the right cam for my use... On top, it was not timed correctly.
Personally, I'd go for a good quality standard MGB cam and fit an SU electrical petrol pump (not too high pressure) or have an engine rebuilder transfer the lobe.
