Hi guys When my Crab was new the bonnet catch was at the front of the car. I want to have a cable release from inside the car. Bought bits on E bay but would appreciate a picture of the slam panel and the cable/ gubbins etc. Does the internal cable knob go on the drivers or passenger side? ? many thanks best wishes Mike

Mine (on a Wolseley 18/85) is under the dash on the passenger side about 300mm from the door. The cable then runs behind the dash and over the radiator cowl and slam panel to the lock mechanism. I don't know if there are different positions on the Austin etc. I'm sure someone with far greater knowledge than me will be along soon with the correct positions.

My Morris has the release cable on the drivers side. Can't supply a photo of the slam panel sadly as the catch was changed about 8 years ago to a front opening one as the original catch wore and let the bonnet pop during motorway journeys. The interior knob and cable under the bonnet were left in place
Edit - it does help if one actually remembers to post the photos he is able to get
Mobile phone photos so the letter B isn't showing - but the knob appears as the white blob, above the throttle. Cable exits the bulkhead under the voltage regulator. Mine id curled and fastened there, but it did used to run under the lip of the offside front wing, then down and along underneath the slam panel

Mine is as Snoopy describes, release knob is under the dash\storage tray on the passenger side. Any ideas why they were but there rather than the driver's side? -Andrew

It's probably routed that way as the latch lever pulls to the left hand side of the car. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll get a few pictures. Chris.

From the Owners Manual. Latch - note clip thing attached to slam panel to stop the outer cable moving. Over the inner wing. Through bulkhead between and below servo and wiper motor. Release handle under passenger shelf. Chris.
