Does a Facet electric fuel pump run continuously, or should it shut off like an SU one does when the system has pressure?
If it's meant to run continuously, it may well be being rplaced as it's pretty noisy, despite being on rubber mounts.

Yes they run continuously and can be a bit noisy. What happened to the mechanical pump? Mechanical one was still on the back of the engine, despite the electric one being fitted under the rear. I have removed it and fitted a blanking plate, thus no doubt releasing and extra 1/ 10 BHP... Chris.

Mine's in the engine bay and you can hear it filling up as it were before you fire up, but after that it's not audible. Had one on an Alfa (sorry) before and that was annoying - it started off underneath the car and ended up in box in the boot with a load of soundproofing round it. Impressed with your power gains btw!

Had one on mine for a very short time - always very noisy. Couldn't wait for the new mechanical one to arrive. It is now languishing somewhere in the boot - one step away from being discarded. Yes it does still work.

Hmmm. Thanks, chaps. A bit of googling shows lots of grumbles about noise from these things. I need something to get the car started with, so it can stay for the moment. I'll see what it sounds like with the engine running.
Chris.
