Do any of the landcrabs have a speedo that incorporates a trip meter? Mine doesn't it just has total mileage and is not re-settable? I'll be doing a few events where I'll need an odometer and they don't like elctronic gadgetry (gps) and I'm not yet ready to splash the significant cash for a proper rally set up as it's all low key stuff and just for fun. Mine has fuel, temp and speed (120 mph!) at the moment. Cheers Andrew

As far as I know, no crabs were ever fitted with a resetable trip meter. But perhaps a 3 litre speedo can be used, if they were fitted with one.. Just a thought, I've no idea really.

Thanks T Yes, was thinking the same thing (after I posted) as they do have one. Am going to a do on Sunday where there will be at least one 3 litre so I'll take my measuring stick! Cheers
BTW when are we going to organise a "raid" to your neck of the woods?

18/85 and Six have trip meters, but obviously won't fit. Unless........... This car was for sale recently. Invade Norway? There's an idea. Chris.

THE 3 LITRE CARS HAVE NO HOLES IN THE SPEEDO FOR THE TURN SIGNAL AS THEY HAVE A GREEN FLASHER ON THE END OF THE INDICATOR STALK. YOU WOULD HAVE TO WIRE A GREEN FLASH/TURN SIGNAL UP.

Didn't know the Austins and Morris' lacked a trip meter, learn something new everyday.
On the note about turn signals, someone has installed 2 green lights on the dash that are meant to flash when the stalk is on; But it only works 10% of the time and when it does, only one light works lol.

Touch of class, though, green flasher on the end of the stalk.

I need to get my stalk end light working, seems the wiring has been snipped and I've no idea how to fix it. Might be a good little project to do this month coming.

You're welcome to Norway any time, everyone!
A Landcrab arctic adventure, perhaps? Now, that would have been great! I'm just south of Trondheim, which is 500 kms north of Oslo, by E 6, the main road going the length of Norway. You cross the Dovre mountains going from Oslo to Trondheim. Nice nature too.
Something worth planning! I suggest doing it between spring and early autumn. Crossing mountains in winter could be risky business. No doubt a good crab can make it, but you'll need studded tyres or "studless" winter tyres.
Hm, you've got me planning now. If you came up, we could do day- or two day trips around here. For example a two hour drive to the old mining town Røros (on UNESCO heritage list) where we have a cabin. Nice nature there too, and local beers and aquavit of course:-). Also, Sweden is less than two hours away. Many ways to do round trips.
Great idea! Let's keep it in mind for the future!
Tommy:-)

BBC NewsBy coincidence the BBC announced this morning that the UK's last direct ferry link to Scandinavia sails for the final time tomorrow and will close after 140 years. I missed out on a visit a number of years ago when two weddings clashed on the same weekend. I went to my friends in Surrey while Mrs RS went to see her cousin married in Norway - would love to go. Spooky - I spent a bit of time last night looking at routes/ferries - I'm 99% sure the heavy duty freight one still runs from Immingham to Brevick. They will take cars but you have to book a while in advance - other rallys have used this service. Would love to do this but would also be quite happy to drive the whole way. Do I detect some sort of a plan here??? Cheers Andrew

There used to be the ferry from Newcastle to Bergen. Now the suggested alternative is Newcastle to Amsterdam ..... and drive the rest of the way
