I bought my car from a chap called Smith. He lived down in Rodley, which is only about 15 minutes away from here. I remember him telling me that he'd bought a rotten Austin and scrapped it in order to help him repair what is now my Wolseley. This made a great deal of sense, as the car was fitted with a MkIII Austin interior, the later engine, rod gear change and multifarious other bits and pieces. What he didn'y use on the car he sold as part of the deal. As we were moving all the car stuff over into the new garage, I noticed that the spare screen still had a tax disc holder on it, complete with old tax discs. A quick check on the DVLA site revealed: The vehicle details for GUB 651K are: Date of Liability 01 04 2001 Date of First Registration 12 04 1972 Year of Manufacture 1972 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1798CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour BLUE Vehicle Type Approval - It's reasonable to assume that this is the poor old car which died to keep mine alive for a while longer. Chris.
