Hi All, Does anyone know how to bypass the starter inhibitor sitch on a mk3 1800 auto? I can get the starter to work by shorting the terminals but nothing at the ignition key... Cheers Rich

Hi Rich The inhibitor switch and reverse miroswitches are located together behind the instrument panel at the selector. The w/s manual warns that the terminals are easily damaged and should only be disconnected when replacing a switch. My manual shows the starter inhibitor as being the left hand of the two microswitches. I guess I don't need to warn anyone about the dangers of bypassing this switch, the 1800 is a heavy car to set off without a driver:)which has happened in Australia with devastating results for the car and someone's home - but not for this reason I must add.

If you need a new switch they are still available at maplins for a couple of pounds, I had to change it on my Wolseley Six.
