Much better weather than last year though still cold an blowy until well into the afternoon. The Landcrab turnout was strong at 20 cars all but one of which parked together. It would have been more but Pete from the Barnsley Lads had to abandon vehicle on route due to head gasket failure. Pete, hope you get it all fixed up OK. Anyway, here are a few pics. General view of some of the Landcrabs Chris and I were parked together How many crabbers does it take to get one going? Quite a few as it turned out. The pale blue Wolseley just wouldn't start. It took about 45 minutes of looking at ignition parts, checking for fuel and lots and lots and lots of cranking to get it to come into life. Eventually it got going but with no definite conclusion. Chris was in the thick of the action with the spanners. Incidentally the buildings in the background are some of whats left of the Longbridge factory. Show season now under way so the picture board ought to see a bit more action. Nick

Nck, thanks for the pics; make me feel homesick. Sounds as though Chris was at home with a non starting Wolseley David How many crabbers does it take to get one going? Quite a few as it turned out. A view across the rally field: Maxis.1969 Maxi - first year of production. In "Moss Green", apparently a very rare colour even at the time. It must be a very rare survivor. A Few For Keef. There you go, bit of a taster. I'm afraid I wasn't up to the usual tour round photographing everything. There was a most impressive row of Rover BRMs to be seen, also a very tasty black 3 litre. It's a slightly different type of show in that many of the cars you will still see every day. It's not a classic car show, it's a Longbridge produced car show, so many cars are just entering middle aqe. Quite why TPU wouldn't start is a bit of a mystery. Pesonally, I think the timing is well off. We stuck another rotor arm on it and a combination of NickRS's jump pack and Ken Green's persistance eventually got it going. Once started, it sounded sweet as a nut. Little red Hall effect set up and some flaky looking wiring probably didn't help. Anyway, it was a pleasant day out and nice to see most of the gang again. Tripplescrew was waving his camera about later on, so there may be video footage to come. Chris.

Well done, Pete. Head looks decent - any idea why she blew?
Chris.

Not sure why it blew to be honest, only thing I can think of is I went to Newark autojumble about a month ago and she ran warm due to a faulty preasure cap and a leaking rad but I changed these and its bin fine since. Head in good nick but bores worn she does use oil, so think a engine change or rebuild is on the cards just need it to keep running until I get my Wolseley Six back on the road.

It's funny how things change through a lifetime. I was brought up not too many miles from Longbridge and during my early and teen years (say 1955-66) we were all very proud of the BMC cars built by many of my neighbours - and of "our" Lucas electrics. When I see these photos it reminds me of a gentler quite different England, but perhaps I was just less cynical and naive then? Glad to hear the light blue Wolseley is running but always worrying with electrics when you cannot find the cause, you just know it is lurking to catch you out again at some inopportune moment.
