Hi. I'm trying to take the gearbox off my 1973 2200 and have removed every bolt that i can see but the gearbox is not coming away at the front pulley end of the engine. Is there any hidden bolts that i'm missing or is it purely stuck on dowels etc? Thanks

Hi Peter, and welcome to the forum!
Sorry, I've never worked on the 2200 so don't know. I'm sure someone else will let us know in a while.

1800 man here too. I have had the gearbox off the "B" series (and it is the same gearbox), so there can't be too many mysteries. At a glance, the obvious differences between the engines are the engine mountings. Are they holding the casing in place? Chris.

I remember it needed some force when I had the gearbox off the 1800, a dowel was tight if I remember correctly. I had the whole lump hanging in a hoist, with a few cms clearance to the floor. Hitting the gearbox lightly with a rubber hammer made the gearbox come off.
Worth a try perhaps, if you're sure all nuts and bolts are removed.
Tommy.
