Hi,
I am Mats and I am living south of Stockholm in Sweden. I am new to the Landcrab world but have been in the old car world for more than 40 years, mostly connected to prewar american cars and swedish car makes.
I came across the Mark1 1968 last year. One of the members in the local antique car club informed about the car saying that the owner, now in his lower 80´s suffered for Parkinson and saw that there was no possibility for him to finish the restoration he started in 1986. We checked the car and saw that the job that was done was very good, especially the rust job. Everything was and edge to edge work and rust protected. What was not so good was his own paint job but we have said that it is good enough to show for people and a part of the cars history. Interior is perfect and needed no work.
We bought what you can say a basket case but has managed to put the car together and drove it as from August 2013. All parts was said to be with the car but as you all know, this is not always the case. I have part that I don´t know where they should be and I especially suffer the bayonett ring that secures the gear lever to the gear wire case. If you don´t take it easy, you end up with the lever in your hand. Do you know if the ring is the same for the 1100-1300 smaller models as these cars are extremely rare here. I would say that this Mark1 is the only driveable one in Sweden.
This forum has been a good source for information and I will hopefully add some photos eventually.
Best regards Mats
