Our new member tripplescrew Dave's cars notes that he has owned 8 Landcrabs over the years. 1x 1968 Austin 1800 mk 1 (rusted to bits and pieces)
1x 1967 Morris 1800 mk 1 (had S cylinder head and twin HS 6 carbs)
1x 1970 Morris 1800 mk 2 (white one I still have)
1x 1971 Morris 1800 mk 2 (blue one I still have)
1x 1971 Austin 1800 mk 2 (low mileage, but I soon discovered it had been in a serious accident and badly repaired...)
... and a couple of 1800s I've just scrapped for spares..
That's my list:-)

1974 Damask Morris MkIII back in the early '80's.
1967 Midnight Blue Wolseley 18/85 MkI (ish) which you all know.
1970 Damask Austin MkII - currently spread round the garage.
The more I see of the cars, the more individual they become, which I suppose is a realistic assessment given that numbers of survivors are relatively low.

As I said in my intro I have owned 9 land crabs from the age of 16 to present. I will try to remember their reg numbers & colour schemes. They are in the order I owned them.

Wolseley 18/85 WXC 446K- GLACIER WHITE/ OLIVE INTERIOR- AUTOMATIC. Wolseley 6 HCV 208L - MIDNIGHT BLUE/ BLUE INTERIOR( Changed to Glacier white) AUTOMATIC. Morris 1800 AMB 378M - HARVEST GOLD/ BLUE INTERIOR- Manual. Austin 2200 YEN 80M - BLACK / BLACK INTERIOR- AUTOMATIC-Ex coffin chaser/ Limousine. Wolseley 6 UYU 223M - BLACK TULIP(PURPLE) RED INTERIOR- AUTOMATIC. Morris 1800 GVO 574N - HARVEST GOLD/ BLUE INTERIOR( Changed to Cosmic blue/black interior) Manual. Wolseley 18/85 WXC 446K - GLACIER WHITE/OLIVE INTERIOR- AUTOMATIC.
The last 2 cars I currently own having bought the Wolseley back with an auto box problem that has been sorted. I robbed the interior out of my first car before it was scrapped & put it into the 2200 I had acquired. Painted it midnight blue ran it for 12mnths, purchased a new car drove the 2200 into the breakers yard failed m.o.t on a ball joint. I know I know!!! & the rest is history used my wolseley 18/85 & 6 as wedding cars that's why the colour change on the 6 & the purchase of a limo. 3 of these cars are in the hands of new owners. AMB 378M lives in Doncaster. HCV 208L lives in Durham. UYU 223M lives in Holmfirth. Thanks Dave. |
