Hi, Just a short intro, I"m Chris, A Barnsley lad and proud owner of the Durham Police car, which has had lots of interest and good reviews from LOCI members and public alike since I eventually Got the car up and running and mainly restored to somewhere like a decent car ! Still bits to do , the paintwork is the big let down at the moment, When I got the car it was to coin a phrase " As rotten as a Pear " I had the underside almost totally rebuilt using in many areas " Galvernised " sheet, the inner jacking point panels were custom made and could hold up the " Forth Bridge" I jest ye not ! I am sure it will last a good few more years now Interior wise I think I have made a nice job ?? Lots of the work I do myself with the help of my brother and mates... I recently bought the white mk1 from Tim Beardmore off the LOCI crabmart , The banger boys were after her !!!!!! KTE ( Katey ) Is now in my safe hands and will make a nice car, I also own the Teal Blue Auto on the cover of this months LOCI mag I hope this little intro as been of interest to other members... Cherrs, Chris.

Hi Chris Welcome aboard! I've been watching your car for quite some time from afar on Youtube and the for sale section of the LOCI magazine as I'm now based in Thailand but lived in Yorkshire before I left for warmer climes. Sorry to hear you had lots of body problems to sort out but glad to hear it's well on its way. If you have any photos of the restoration they would be much appreciated. We'll have to call you Chris L or something similar as everyone here now seems to be called Chris regards David

Hello Chris, Great to see you on here and good on you for stopping the Mk1 from going to the oval. You're building up quite a collection of cars.
Nick

Cheers Andrew Hi Andrew, I couldnt let the old girl go the way of far too many British classics, And I can confirm the amount of body repairs are not at all bad, well compared to the police car anyway She will make a nice interesting project, I have a few ideas ! ? ! I"ve just this week started on rebuilding the " S " engine from the police car, She"s fitted with one of Ray House"s recon units at the moment ! My local engineering shop quoted a mere £500 for rebore, crank grind , supply of quality pistons and bearings AND rebuilding it back to a short motor, Why get yer hands mucky at those prices ? I have to make room for Katey, so the Teal blue auto ( Front cover of this months LOCI mag ) is soon to go to another LOCI member as his second car during the rebuild of his Wolseley six.. I will be posting pics on here soon has I shrink the files on my pc , with the help of my young family members, I can wield the spanners but pcs can be a bit daunting at times
Catch you soon,
chris.

Hi Chris L When you have encouraged your young family members to re-size your photos it would be good if you could open up a thread in the Your Cars, Restorations and Rebuilds section, either one thread for each car or one for all of your fleet. Do you have any photos of the Police car body repairs including the galvanised sheet fabrications, I'm sure it would interest many here. It is preferable to use a (free) photo hosting website linked to your posts if you have a lot of photos as there is a limit to the number that can be embedded in these pages before we have to pay real money for the service. If you need help just shout! Regards David Hi Chris I was keen on KTE as well - but too slow off the mark and to be honest have my hands full with my 1800S! Hi Chris - I'm humming and ha-ing about the engine in my 1800S - there's nothing wrong with it - apart from mega oil consumption that is, but having spent a while on the phone to Peter Burgess am convinced that at some time I'll want to go the way of the horsepower. I also want to get back behind the wheel as soon as the welding's done, but the engines out at the mo. So one way forward could be for me to buy/hire (!) your Ray House engine for a bit and stick that back in the car and do the mega rebuild at my leisure. If any bit of this remotely appeals, let me know! Cheers Andrew

THINK YOU,VE MISUNDERSTOOD CHRIS PAL, THE RAY HOUSE ENGINE IS STAYING IN THE COP CAR. THE "S" ENGINE IS GOING INTO "KATIE" AS HER ENGINE HAS DONE SOME MILES I WILL LET CHRIS KNOW BUT I THINK HE WILL BE KEEPING THE ENGINE OUT OF "KATIE" AS WE HAVE 6 LANDCRABS BETWEEN US & YOU NEVER KNOW IF WE MAY NEED ONE.
