Strange things, these carbon bearings.
Anyway, sorted out the pivot rod for the fork. Due to the excess length of the rod, it was possible to use "new" metal as the bearing surface for the fork by reversing it. To that end, I drilled and threaded the other end of the rod and also a new location hole for the fixing bolt to run into. Fork is now totally free.

The engine is back in. Snoopy came over for the day and beevered away, so my thanks to him for his time and effort. Fortunately, the new retaining clips for the CRB turned up in the post this morning, so putting the clutch housing back on completed the work on the engine itself. Exhaust proved to be particularly obstructive, so I was sent underneath to try and remove it. Dropping back in. This was followed by the usual up and down, side to side and back and forth to line up the drive shafts and engine mounts, until eventually: Enough for today - I'll plumb it all up tomorrow. Big thanks to Snoopy for making the job rather more fun and doing the heavy duty bits. Chris.

Drive shafts coupled up, battery tray in, electrics laid back in, clutch cylinder back on, gear selector refitted.
Exhaust, cables and waterworks tomorrow.
Chris.

Great work, as always, Chris!
You beat me mounting the engine. I had great hopes of some progress today, but we had a night with at least one bottle of Captain Morgan here yesterday- until the early morning.... So, no work done to the blue car today and nothing else done either:-)
But, tomorrow:-) All that's needed is some paint here and there in the engine bay.

It's not a race, Tommy. Good to hear that you're nearly there with yours. Captain Morgan? My personal devil is Timothy Taylor. Purveyors of fine ales. Hopefully it'll all be finished on Monday. Chris.

Well done Chris. I hope you repaired the damaged indicator prior to taking it for a drive. You can confess to the little mishap now

Yes, the repeater lens has been replaced after the minor engine/wing interface moment. This si what happens when working single-handed.
Honestly, you'd think Snoopy was my Dad after the telling off I got for hoiking the engine out alone. Still, very grateful for the help.
Thanks, Tommy.
Need to get the MoT test booked in the next couple of days. A quick check shows that the car did just under 5k miles over the last year.
Chris.

He may be 300 miles away and mechanically inept, but he still shows concern when I try and do things alone.
That was a quick year from reading the adventures of eventually getting 'Red Dog' finished and through her last MOT.

I've had a happy afternoon fettling - MoT Monday at 1.30pm - so cleaning out lamps and holders, topping everything up, blowing up tyres and the like. Pleasant way of passing a couple of hours.
