It does have bolt on wiper - and jury rigged washer bottle. I needed both for MOT anyway - which it passed .

Tackled the left hand side top arm bush yesterday which was a palaver but should last another 50 years now - fingers crossed - that's one less squeak. Only other things that needed doing were the plastic cup that goes on the end of the knuckle joint that pushes against the displacer and a ball joint boot - these don't seem to last long. Driving home in the dark, right hand side main beam packed up. Which makes me wonder has anyone done away with sealed beam and gone with a better option that illuminates better? Thanks Andrew

If you look in "Rosie's" posts here you will see she converted to LED headlamps specified for a Landrover Defender. Her car had an issue with low power electrics so she did not use LED driver modules. I wouldn't recommend using LED lights without the constant current driver as they won't last long. There is also the issue of them being open to the road grime. It seems a bit hit and miss to get units that have the right beam pattern and focusing. Another alternative would be to use halogen bulbs as these can be fitted in place of the sealed beam units, there used to be conversion kits, but I believe the case was the same as the Morris 1000 etc. David

I use halogen headlamps, but with bulbs which double the light output (lux). Furthermore the lamps are connected by a relay. I use General Electric Megalight bulbs. Osram Night Breaker Unlimited and Philips X-treme Vision are alternatives. Peter

Yes, using a relay is a good idea to take the load away from the switches and avoid losses in the wiring.

Thanks Gents - that looks like the way forward (!) - noted about the relay. It'd be nice to have a bit more illumination. Cheers Andrew

Well - all done and makes a helluva difference. Many thanks. Have been busy with this over the late Autumn/Winter, turning it into more of a hot rod and getting interior done, plus endless fettling to get it handling as well as poss. Appreciate it's off topic but here is my first go at posting piccies for a while. DSC00171 by andrew atherton, on Flickr DSC00172 by andrew atherton, on Flickr Next landcrab outing for me is this www.parisautoevents.com/calendrier/god-save-the-car-and-the-motorcycleI've taken the option of 3 x 20 minute high speed sessions on the banked circuit which should be interesting. I admire the French for keeping this historic circuit going in a useable condition. Brooklands - the worlds first purpose built motor racing circuit - ended up with a main road, retail park, offices a car showroom and a hotel through it! Andrew

You've been busy! It looks really good and quite an improvement from the pic taken at the VHRA Hot Rod Races, Pendine Sands 2014.

I have a set of drivers in the Accent that will work (if they'll physically fit) and the slight flickering is only at idle, otherwise they are much better than the incandescents. The lights I used have sealed backs made of aluminium that has somehow been plastic coated - there's not much chance of moisture getting in. They're rated at 35/45w as opposed to 45/55w for the incands.

Had a great time at "God Save the English Car & Motorcycle". I think we were the only English who made the trek and a great fuss was made of us by the announcer, the other competitors and the visitors. We are going to feature in a couple of French classic car mags in due course - will wait and see. The event was a mixture of a static car show and parade laps for those who wanted them on the circuit - part of which uses the original banking - and high speed 20 minute sessions. The sessions were sort of divided into classes - we were in Vintage GT and Roadster - which included a D-Type replica, some very quick Spridgets - which were race cars, a Mk 1 Escort with a Cosworth lump in it that wasn't road registered and the usual assortment of MG's/Morgans + '70's/'80's Jag Coupe V12!! The day started off foggy but warmed up during the course of the day. The car behaved well on track and gradually reeled in and despatched a lot of the other cars, much to many peoples surprise. I'll post a video later. We came back through the centre of Paris at crack of dawn on Sunday morning - had the place to ourselves and got some great pictures of car by famous monuments - again, I'll post once I figure out how to get them off the phone! Met one lovely gent who had decided to spend his pension lump sum collecting every "European Car of The Year" - for reasons known only to him. It had to be the correct model and from the correct year. He either ran out of space or cash by the time he got to 1977 as he stopped then, but he had everything from '64 to '77. He of course knew all about the 1800 as it was ECOTY in '65 Back to the car, no real issues - just wish I had an extra 50 bhp and a 5th gear at times! Did 1000 road miles, used no water and a tiny bit of oil, not bad considering we were doing a steady 80 mph on the motorways for hours + the "track day". <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24000000000001px; height: 23.1400000000001px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 5px; top: 269px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_90396789" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1631px; top: 269px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_32099094" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 1353px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_13915498" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1631px; top: 1353px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_65087292" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 335px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_56422683" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1631px; top: 335px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_42678751" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 5px; top: 1418px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_26329347" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="34.24000000000001" height="23.1400000000001" style="position: absolute; width: 34.24px; height: 23.14px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 1631px; top: 1418px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_96737061" scrolling="no"></iframe> JA8A3051 by andrew atherton, on Flickr DF1K1512 by andrew atherton, on Flickr DF1K1560 by andrew atherton, on Flickr JA8A2287 by andrew atherton, on Flickr JA8A2951 by andrew atherton, on Flickr DF1K1636 by andrew atherton, on Flickr Paris 2019-26 by andrew atherton, on Flickr Paris 2019-72 by andrew atherton, on Flickr

It looks like you had a great time and the car performed well. The fog adds to some further magic to the photos too.

Great stuff. I take it you had passed all those sporty little numbers and were then being a "very wide car"?

Looks like a fun day; some excellent driving. I did prefer the music from the earlier video though! It makes little sense to me that you can find and listen to most music on Youtube but can't incorporate it in your video unless it is royalty free. David In case anyone's interested! Seven! You passed seven, including an E-type. Very well done. Mind you, I'd have loved to be up on the top of that banking giving it some beans....
