Pleasant day out and local for me. off to Gaydon to see what the Classic was all about.
Mine was the only Landcrab present. The AC Ace attracted a terrific amount of interest during the day. The owner said it was a replica built using authorised parts but powered by a Triumph engine rather than a Bristol. I wouldn't have been any the wiser, car looked totally original to me and has obviously been built with a great deal of care and attention.
Lots and lots of Morris Minors. There was a 60th Anniversary do for the traveller. I was talking to an owner and he reckoned about 150 turned up, there was a good number of saloons, convertibles and commercials too, definitely a Minor day.
more
A lot inside too, the first Mini and first Minor keep each other company
These look like toys don't they? The only Landcrab, a Morris 1800S was difficult to get at
Note the reduced rear opening on the World Cup Rally Maxi. The tailgate was welded up to increase body strength
One day I should like an Austin 16
Back outside was this remarkable Marina. I'm not familiar with concours but I watched the owner explaining something to a visitor and he popped the bonnet to show something. Out came a small cloth to wipe a little muck from under the bonnet lid. Amazing, must be a real labour of love. If the outside of my car was as clean as his engine bay I would be very pleased indeed. Great to see a Marina looking so well.
Didn't manage to speak to the owners but it looks like this MGB GT V8 came all the way from Vienna
