I have received a very kind offer from some friends on a related forum, who will be attending the National Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon next week in order to carry out some research.
If you would like the factory record of your car, please PM ME ONLY with your chassis, commission and engine numbers and I will forward them to be checked.
Not all information is available:
Austins - Up to 1969. Morrises - Up to 1971. Wolseleys - Complete.
If your car falls into those groups, let me know by PM if you'd like the info.
Please don't put your vehicle details on the forum. It's a publicly accessible place and there may be naughty people out there just looking for the opportunity to do a bit of ringing and other mischief.
Results usually take a couple of weeks to get sorted and collated, so a little bit of patience is required.
Chris.

My friends from the Wolseley Forum will be at Gaydon from Monday to Wednesday this coming week. If anyone would like information about their car from the manufacturing records will you please contact me very soon!
To date, no-one has chosen to avail themselves of this opportunity, which is unlikely to be repeated for another year.
Chris, Admin.

Chris, I contacted them direct through the Wolseley Forum and I'm going to meet them for a coffee since I work next door. Looking forward to it.

Just to give closure on this one. I met with Chris's Wolseley Forum friends and spent a very pleasant half hour or so in their company chatting about Wolseleys, classic cars, and research among other things. I was aware that they were doing valuable research so didn't want to take too much of that time away from them. A few days later I got an e-mail with some details. Not that much on record at the moment but that may improve next year as more cataloguing is done by the museum.
My car was built ten days before it was registered back in 1970 which to me says it was probably built as a sold order rather than for stock. It's nice to have a few details about its early days as I have absolutely nothing prior to 1984
