hi folks, just joined the forum this evening and thought i`d share a few pictures of my new car.... hope you like them/it she`s a 1967 Morris 1800 that I bought last friday (9th august 2013) from someone in Ipswich who had absolutely no idea what the car was or anything about it. He was going to, apparently, put a Chevy V8 in and drag-race it for some reason..... when i got it home, the bonnet and bootlid had been painted 2 inches thick with white household emulsion. That was a fun job getting all that off, I can tell you. For some reason the car was MOT`d back in June with no brakes or exhaust fitted the front calipers are in the boot ''awaiting a rebuild'' and the exhaust.... well, that has been heavily 'upgraded' (for upgraded read 'bodged') - I can see at least 3 different diameter bits of pipe on there. No wonder she sounds like a Sherman tank at tick-over.

Yup, welcome Mickey. Sounds like the PO would get on with our own Charlypm - he's building a race car in the US. Looks like a good project. Has someone already sorted the sills? Calipers are just Girling M16s, so repair kits are easily available. Exhausts do pop up, or are available from EARLPART's exhaust division. Bit pricy, mind. Good luck with it, feel free to start a thread in the Restoration section. We'll look forward to reading more. Cheers, Chris.

thanks chaps :-)
Chris, I was tempted to recreate the '70 Mexico rally cars but decided against it for some reason. As much as I like the look of the rally cars, I think I prefer it as original as I can keep it. I think the sills have been worked on at some point. I`ve had a look at Earlpart`s pricelist already, just to price a few bits up. I`ll need to order up (at least) a kit for the calipers as well as new pads and some shoes and sundries for the rear brakes. I was walking round town yesterday and happened to come across a van whose owner claimed to be able to make custom-fabricated exhausts. I might give him a call tomorrow and see if he can make me a stainless item for the Morris in the original pattern and what it will cost.

BIGG RED are always good for quality brake parts or refurbishment if required. Green Stuff DB2169 pads made a remarkable difference to my cars stopping ability. Do join LOCI. Nice crowd and the best spares scheme of any club I've ever been involved with. The membership fee is worth it for that alone. Chris.

Welcome mate, look forward to seeing the 'new' car come along. As Chris said, join the LOCI, I'm all the way downunder and the spares department have saved my bottom a few times, also the magazine they make is pretty good -Andrew
