I see that the "users online in the last 24 hours" isn't a true record. It is currently showing just 1 user (indianajones) but neither Nick, Penguin or I are recorded despite all having posted. No big deal but is anything else being dropped?

Looks like an update has taken place, so I imagine a restart was involved. Nice to know these things if you're supposed to be the administrator.
I'll find out if I can put the banner back up. Everybody happy with the wording or are there some better ideas?
Chris.

Hmm - looks like "Preview" doesn't work, so mind your spelling.

OK, I've had a poke about and I suspect that is to make it look like a pHp board.
There are one or two new toys behind the scenes, but mostly this looks like a dress up exercise.
White on blue theme seems a bit cold - I can change that if people wish. I'm on holiday in Cornwall, so do have some time to spend on this. The news banner is still there, but reduced to a line of text - don't know if I can make it bigger.
All other suggestions, now is the time to do it.
Chris.

A couple of minor issues: (i) Being lazy, I would find it better if say the last ten posts could be listed. It is easy to miss an update to thread if another thread in the same group has been updated later. I know there is a link for recent posts but as I said I am being lazy (ii) Can links to members names be in a different colour to the link to the topic (iii) Can we have a UK spell check (apologies to the few members across the pond) Enjoy your holiday regards David All other suggestions, now is the time to do it. Chris.

It is easy to miss an update to thread if another thread in the same group has been updated later. I know there is a link for recent posts but as I said I am being lazy There is a link for new posts on the bottom of the home page. May be able to change this to a dsiplay, but not with my current admin protocols. (ii) Can links to members names be in a different colour to the link to the topic Don't quite follow.....? (iii) Can we have a UK spell check (apologies to the few members across the pond) There is no embedded spell checker on the forum - look to your computer! Enjoy your holiday regards David Many thanks - I'm due. Kids are surfing in the sea, sun's out. Watched the meteor shower last night - very little ambient light here, so quite spectacular! Otherwise: I trust that the board colour scheme is acceptable. Good contrast without being gaudy. I consulted MrsP and my sister on this (Females - not colour blind. They vetoed the yellow and black with orange highlights that I was toying with.) You will all now get a flag for PMs, instead of not noticing the tiny icon on the task bar for several days. Today's posts are now dated in RED. Yesterday's posts are now dated in BLUE. Hopefully this will make spotting new posts a little easier until I can do something about the display at the bottom. Managed to get the news banner back up to a sensible size again. Can't do anything with colour at the moment. When Alex returns from the sea I'm going to persuade him to do a new top banner fro the forum. Definitely needs a car in there. Cheers, Chris.

Chris, This looks fine. With all system updgrades we wonder why they do it, then after a little while get used to it and settle down. Agreed that the preview doen't work so I'll have to be more careful with spelling and loading pictures and link. Thanks for taking the time to make the interface a little more user friendly.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday
Nick

Cheers Nick.
Quite an interesting voyage of discovery, really.
Richard, the founder of the site, has agreed to pass ownership of the site over to me. This will happen shortly when Proboards process the paperwork.
I hope you will join me in an expression of thanks to Richard for setting up this board and for his hard work in the early days getting it all working properly as well as for his contributions about the trials and tribulations of his own 'Crab.
In further news, Avatars are now pretty straightforward to add from Profile. No physical size restrictions, but a 1Mb maximum. This is far easier than trying to size the image of your choice under the old system. Please do so, otherwise we're all going to be talking to little bald grey men!
Chris.

Compared to some of the contributors to this board I am a newcomer. I was a regular but non contributing reader for a long time before buying my car and joining.
Richard, thank you for setting up this forum and all the work in maintaining it and spreading the word about these great cars. Without sites like this there would be fewer of them still running. Hope you are able to look in on us from time time.
regards - Nick
PS - preview just worked

Please give my best wishes and thanks to Richard who has rekindled my interest, some say obsession, with Landcrabs and inspired me to track them down like a professional sleuth. As far as the Avatar is concerned, maybe just I'll just add hair to the little grey man, it's close enough! Regards David Cheers Nick. I really need a new computer but it will have to wait until I come back home for a number of reasons - I prefer the UK keyboard, I like a warranty and it's a lot cheaper. I find that the last post and the member are very close together and not infrequently end up on the member profile not the subject. Wider spacing or new specs for me would be the answer! The misspellings are highlighted as I type on this forum. The computer is from the UK with a UK keyboard and British English as the default spell check for MS Word. However this site and Google, Yahoo etc default to US spelling. regards David (ii) Can links to members names be in a different colour to the link to the topic Don't quite follow.....? OK, there is a spell check add-on available for the site, but it's US English, so no advantage there. Better leave that for the moment. Can you do a screen shot of how you see the forum, David? The forum is supposed to be a self-fit to the aspect ratio of your screen. This lap top has a 13" x 8" screen, so relatively wide. The screen on Dad's computer is 13" square, making the forum look different, but everything still fits. Preview does still work - if you want to edit what you've written, just go into the preview screen and add/subtract or correct. Couple of new smilies on board, one unashamedly for me and one for Tommy and I to enjoy.
