I just received a parcel from our friend Tony, including two modified engine mountings for my white project.
Can anyone share their experience with these? The rear one looks good, as the rubber sits at an angle, so the engine will rest on the mounting somehow.
The substitute for the big, flat one also looks good although the rubber is mounted vertically as on the original one. I suppose it will last longer than the original one anyway. What gets me is the modified piece is far thicker than the original one, so the power unit will be pushed further against the left hand inner wing with this.
Are there any issues related to this?

I'm really fed up with the OE mountings. I guess they were no good solution from the start, and for say the last ten yrs I've had them all split in a matter of months after installing. I guess the rubber/ glue is getting dry and old. I once got one with a 90s Rover label on, meaning it was probably one of the last made. It held for many years, so I believe it's down to the age of them why they fail in short time.

When you do a "pre-assembly" and put the old mount next to it, you'll find it's the same thickness. The two big blocks are Land Rover engine mounts, so you'll be able to find them just about anywhere. The rubber block looks suspiciously like a Mini exhaust bobbin. It's holding up fine, so far. MORRIS MINOR LAGER in Denmark have had new ones made, but I have no idea what the quality is like. I have been forumulating a bit of a cunning plan, but it's not ready to try out yet. Chris: Sounds good! I'll install them when the temperatures rise. Want to do some painting at the same time.
The new ones from the Danish place are horrible, at least the ones I got once. I needed a set during my student days, as the engine was almost falling out. They were so expensive i couldn't afford them at the time, so Dad had to buy them!
After 45 minutes the big flat one burst.... While the car was still parked.. horrible.. I don't remember but believe I returned them and finally got some OE ones.

It's 12 yrs or so ago, so perhaps they've sorted things at their Indian factory.
Personally, I prefer the LOCI modified ones! If the rubber should fail you'd always find some replacements. I guess the brackets will last forever.
