It is with great sadness that I note the passing of Sir Alex Moulton; engineer and inventor. We know him best for his hydrolastic system of vehicle suspension as used on our 'Crabs. I became aware of the name in the early 1970's, having a Moulton Minx bicycle. MOULTON BICYCLE COMPANY. DAILY TELEGRAPH OBITUARY. Very sad. Chris.

I knew this day would arrive soon, I will have a drive in my 'crab and a quiet drink for the good Doctor. Thank you for the lovely ride in my car mate, rest in peace Andrew

Yes a very sad day. I too had a Moulton bicycle - one of the originals back around 1964 if I remember correctly. I share his concern about the lack of engineers in England now and the way we have forgotten how they made Britain "Great". Unlike Germany where engineers have been and continue to be held in high esteem and paid accordingly we seem to have shot ourselves in the foot. A great shame. Now it is up to us to keep the Landcrabs running in honour of his memory.
Hopefully LOCI can incorporate a full tribute to him in the next edition of their magazine.
David

Indeed it is. Clever devil. I have been in Avon tyres for work purposes, and a quainter part of the island would be hard to find. Excellent article. Tony S

Oh, and mustn’t forget Royal Enfield at Bradford on Avon. Busy little place.
