Hi all-great to find a landcrab forum. I'm Steve, and I've got to confess that I haven't owned a landcrab for about 20 years. I learnt to drive on a mark 2 Morris 1800 in 1986, then kept it until I couldn't afford to fix it any more. I've missed it and wanted another ever since, and am in the process of convincing the wife that another as a toy/project would be a good idea. I'm working on the idea of 2011 being the year of the landcrab.

Hi Faulks,
I did something similar to you. I had a Morris in the 80's when they were just cheap runabouts. It was passed on when the MoT looked a bit expensive. I always regretted that and in 2004 managed to aquire my current 18/85.
It's early days with the forum - do join in and help us build it into a real resource.
Good luck with your search for a car - they are popping on the bay of evil things quite regularly, but prices seem to be creeping up.
Welcome aboard,
Chris.

Thanks guys! I'd noticed that the Wolseleys seem to have taken over the world. Is that a badge survival thing, or just what is coming onto the market at the moment? I have an odd partiality for strip speedometers and fins, but I guess it'll be a case of what's about when it comes to the crunch.

I liked the fins - I thought that they gave the car far better balance in it's proportions. Never stuck them on the Wolseley though. I bought it because it was the first one that came along within budget and with an MoT - the full horrors weren't revealed until some years later.
To be fair, I didn't buy it because it was the "premium" model (Which now seems to be the case) and I have no intention of selling her.
My pesonal opinion is that the cars are so d*mn ugly that theye're rather beautiful!
Chris.

I'm working on the idea of 2011 being the year of the landcrab. Welcome Faulkes. Splendid idea! The owner of this crab was thinking of selling it; don't know if he still is? : Can find out, if you are interested. The car lives in Bedford.

I thought it lived in Crewe? I might be mistaken, but I felt sure Mr B was based in Sandy.

Oo-err! That's scarily interesting, particularly given its track record on the web. I might have to see how many pennies are still available after Christmas.... January always seems to be one of those months. As for the landcrab's looks, I'd go with the ugly enough to be beautiful take, though I reckon time has made the proportions more commonplace. Its a shame they didn't keep the early pre-styling prototypes though.... they'd have come in handy for confusing new Mini Countryman owners at the moment.

The Wolseley Six seems to be the most common and the Morris 1800'S' the rarest.
The rarest 2200 is the wedge Wolseley Six (6 months production).
