Thanks, Chris! Now that looks very familiar to me:-) And a nice, tall snowman that is!
I'm sure you would have liked some studded tyres now:-) Actually stud free winter tyres, as they are called here, have become increasingly common up here too. There are extra taxes for using stud tyres too, due to environment issues (air pollution from dust caused by the studs..)
Anyway, I'm one of those who stick to the studded ones:-) on ice it's just obvious that studs are an advantage imo, but they claim stud free ones are just as good. I doubt it:-)
As said before the ultimate winter car is, you guessed it: The 1800:-) Extremely safe on snow and ice and handles very well!
Enjoy the snow Chris!
Regards, Tommy:-)

And the February 2013 contribution. She was wheeled out this morning so that the alarm could be fitted in the garage and look what happened. She's under there somewhere. I like the little streamlined fairings above the spotlights. Chris.

Great! Looks just like Norway:-) Seems like you've had a "real" winter too! It's been very cold here for long periods. No sign of global warming imo Not that much snow really, until after Christmas. I have actually not used the tractor and snowblower more than six days I think, so the old (1966) Volvo BM tractor lives a quiet life:-) Starts every time though, and works perfectly. I'm sure that thing could survive a nuclear bomb.. Enjoy the winter! Spring is getting closer every day! Regards, Tommy

Ah, that's why the weather forecast is snow to today afternoon over here.... Myself I do not mind snow - my Maestro on narrow snow tyres is rather competent and only gets stuck when I use the front spoiler as snow plough The kids love snow, and what is better than happy kids?

Strange to relate, 24 hours later, the snow has entirely disappeared - heavy rain overnight and it was all gone in the morning. Crazy weather......
Chris.

Hi Tommy
I see the temperatures in Norway are due to finally rise a little over 0C - does that mean you will emerge from your hibernation soon?
Chris wonders if you have been following the electronic ignition thread - something to consider to improve the idle?
Regards
David

Hi, David! Yes, temperatures are on their way up! Finally! Looking forward to the spring for sure.
I've been a bit quiet here, but have been doing some Landcrab work now and then. I am preparing the white one for "MOT" and hope to have it on the road in a month or so. It's had new engine mountings, a full service, cooling system overhaul. I'm now working on the brakes. I really enjoy this car, first of all because it idles and runs as supposed to! It's really like a sewing machine at idle:-) Makes a change for the trouble I've had with the blue one..
It's done almost 180 000 kms, but the previous owner changed oil and filter every 5000 kms from new until '88, when it was laid up. It really runs like a dream, so hopefully it's not that worn. The compression is 175 on all cylinders and vacuum 20 at idle.
It seems to burn some oil, at least it smells like it when idling, and there is an occasional puff of blue smoke when revving it. I hope it settles down when I start driving it, as it's been idling for ages through the winter and I've not driven it since last summer. At least it didnt smoke or smell when I last drove it and the plugs looked excellent after a drive. Anyway, this is not an immaculate car, so I'll live with it as it is.
The blue one... Well, I haven't touched it since September. It's off the road, plates taken off. Fed up with it, but at least I learn a lot from working on the white one, which runs like a dream and is totally untouched and original when it comes to the mechanics. So I'll get back to the blue one when the other one is on the road. Most likely I'll start from scratch, possibly fitting the UK engine I've bought from Sherpa. Paint it, fit it and hope for the best:-) It was said to have done only some 20 000 miles. Hope it's true:-) I still haven't arranged for transport though, but will in a while..
Electronic ignition... Well, I have decided to stick to points:-) Only known quality parts though:-)
OK, updates to come on the white one. Blue one remains under a carpet..
regards, Tommy
