Yeah, I couldn't see anything in my manuals / parts books about the spacers/shims, so I'll take them off for the sake of argument.
As for the Servo, it was running the original Girling Powerstop, but that gave up the ghost, so changed it for a Lockheed as it was a lot cheaper to do so and has been running fine for the last 3.5 years.

How many crabs would a garage see! Man thats bad luck mate. I'd be worried if the brakes were not working properly but otherwise amazed they picked it! Do you pay for a retest? If so I would head somewhere else!
Good luck

Nope, don't need to pay for a retest. How it works in NZ is that you go for the WOF, and if you fail you have 28 days to fix the issues and retest it without paying (when you go back for a retest they only test/inspect what it failed on).
If you don't do it in the 28 days, then you're back to square one and have to pay again. They also enter in the system what you failed on, so if you go to another testing station they can bring it up on screen and see.

So you have three options. One replace the servo an bite the bullet. Second, I can't see non OEM being the problem as many parts fitted to cars are non OEM replacements. He is worried that it is a performance mod. ADRS in Oz I believe require certification of non OEM as functionally the same then all is good. I suspect NZ is the same. Otherwise you would be stuck with paying top dollar for all parts from the manufacturer! So you need to show the part is a direct replacement. If you are lucky Lockheed has noted this servo as a direct replacement for either the PBR or Girling servo then you have to appeal to their judgment. Third get a mod plate for it.

There are a couple of more imaginative options but they are probably all illegal! Infact definitely illegal, strike that!!

What happened in previous years? Is this further tightening or an awkward tester this year. You could always take the servo off altogether, you just need a strong right leg! What are classic are owners supposed to do if the original components are NLA - move to Perth where they don't have a test regards David Nope, don't need to pay for a retest. Well I took the wooden shims out and armed with my car documents and information from the certifier, I went back for a re-test an hour ago. There was a different chap there this time (this man has tested my car before, so he knows her) and I explained to him the situation. He took a quick look under the seat and asked me high thick they were, I showed him with my fingers and do you know what he said? "Oh I wouldn't have failed on that" he then proceeds to scribble out the two fail items and says "old <name here> must've been a bit fussy that day".... ....He didn't even look under the bonnet lol Ah well, so she got her WOF and I grabbed some road tax while I was there ($23 for 6 months!) -Andrew

Great news! No "free" road tax for classics but I guess it's reduced?

Glad to hear all good mate. Thought it was a bit harsh reading the WOF rules!
Well done.

Nope, no tax-free for classics, but a years' tax is $48 NZD, so cheap as chips. The new toy (Jag) is $100 for a year. Road tax is relatively cheap here in NZ, so I'm not fussed about getting tax free classics.
That said there are rumblings from the classic car scene to try and get yearly WOFs for cars over 30 years old, which I would like!

Hey everyone,
My apologies for not posting in a while, have been under the pump (some things never change!)
Well after a long stint of 'crab ownership and a recently long period of not getting much done on her, I have decided to face reality (and my 'loving' wife lol) and pass her onto the next enthusiast.
I sold her to a local Wolseley club member in my city, who also owns a 1905 Wolseley as well as very tidy 1100, so she's in good hands. Being local, I'll be able to see her from time to time and I have been offered to drive her from time to time which I dare say I'll take up on.
I also asked for first refusal should he sell in the future (of course you can never depend on it, but that said, I did manage to get her back before!), but very glad she's stayed within the club.
I've pointed the new owner in the direction of the LOCI, so hopefully another member for the club. I'll also point him in the direction of the forum, but being an older gentleman, I'm not sure if he's PC savvy etc
Thank you again everyone for the help and advice over the years, it has been a great help and no doubt he helped keep the old girl on the road. I'll still be around on the forum of course, always keen to see how you chaps are getting on with your crabs......who knows.....I might even get a wedge in the future lol.
Cheers,
Andrew

Hi Andrew Congratulations on selling your crab. It is good to know it is going to a local Wolseley enthusiast and that you will still be able to see it and maybe even drive it on occasions so you will know what you are missing I hope the new owner will sign up here, I have seen people in their 90s using computers but we do need some younger members like yourself. Best wishes for the future for you and the family, don't work too hard! Regards David
