Hi all I am soon to start on my Austin 1800 Ute and I know it needs a new water pump, I see plenty for sale on Ebay and I guess my question is simply is there just the one part number for an 1800 or is there two only most of the descriptions say that they onluy fit 73 to 75 or there abouts?? any help most appreciated.

I know of at least two. I believe they are different when an alternator is fitted to the car. Ask the seller for the correct one.

Hi! As far as I know there are two. One up to 73, and one from 73 to 75. At least for the one up to 73 it's the same, regardless of alternator or dynamo fitted. Some are cast iron and some are alloy, they are interchangable as far as I know.
I believe the difference between the two types lies in the position of the alternator, the early type is for upper alternator mounting, the later for lower mounting. If your pump's alternator mounting hole is a bit above a straight line out from the engine it's early. If your pump alternator mount end is angled downwards, it's the later type.
