I have a small collection of Classic cars including a 1970 ex. Durham Police Morris 1800s. The car was purchased in the early 1990s by Durham Constabulary from a private owner. The car was then placed in the hands of the Police workshop staff who worked on the Morris to replicate it into their traffic cars from the 1970 era.
The 1800 is distintive by its black and white livery and this marque became part of a Home Office experiment of the early 1970s not only in Durham but a number of other U.K. Police Forces. The trial of cars in this colour scheme was short lived but the reason does not appear to be documented.
The Morris was purchased last year through the PC. UK. club of which I am a member.
