Welcome! I'm only 20, so you're not alone.
Good luck with your search. I had my first car at 15, so little things like not being old enough to drive didn't stop me!
Richard.

Welcome! I got my first car when I was nine:-) Never too young to have interest in cars:-) Actually it was the 1800 I've finished restoring now, I inherited it from my grandfather. Well, finished restoring.. it never ends when it comes to restoring old cars I guess:-) At least it's running, and I use it daily during the summer.
Good luck finding a crab or Maxi:-)
Regards, Tommy.

Thanks for your replies. I think i'll will probably get my first car at about 15. Can I ask what should I expect to pay for a Maxi/Landcrab not in need of total restoration, but are just slightly tatty? From the adverts for them i've seen, im guessing this is right:
Maxi 1500: £400
Maxi 1750L/ Late HL: £500
Maxi 1750HLS/ Early HL: £600
Austin 1800: £750
Austin 1800 S: £850
Austin 2200: £1000
Morris 1800: £800
Morris 1800 S: £900
Morris 2200: £1100
Wolseley 18/85: £900
Wolseley 18/85 S: £1000
Wolseley Six: £1250
Austin 3-Litre: £1600
Can anyone tell me if this is right?

As you have probably noticed the prices vary considerably. I think it is better to go for the best structural condition you can afford and not be swayed by a respray. Better to be able to see the flaws. Some body repairs can be difficult as well as expensive. At the very least you should budget for replacing the whole braking system as this can deteriorate dramatically - you may be lucky and be able to fit new seals. If a vehicle has been laid up for many years there can be all kinds of horrors, it is better to go for a regular runner even if it looks tattier.
It all depends on your budget and what type of project you are planning, ie short or long term. Always double your estimates of cost, better to be happily surprised than upset!
These are just my opinions and I am sure not evryone will agree with me. I know I have changed my priorities over the years and want less challenges as I get older!
Regards
David

That is exactly what I want really, although while it seems from the advert that the bodywork is MOT passable, it doesn't look the very tidy, does it?

It is 38 years old, not doing bad really! I doubt BL thought it would last this long, could be a snip.
